good baby boy songs?

Any songs you can think of about having a boy? I am in the mood to cry in my office today instead of working.

Simple Man by Shinedown. Makes me cry like a little baby. And is a special song between my mom and little brother.

Never heard it sung by Shinedown, but LOVE the Lynyrd Skynrd version.

Beautiful Boy is a good cry song. I have John Lennon and Ben Harper versions.

Others that aren't boy specific but great...
Sing For You by Tracey Chapman
If I Needed You by Townes Van Zandt

And one that isn't baby specific but it really spoke to me as a FTM moving from just DH and me to a fam of 3...
    One Voice by Wailin' Jennys

I think I may go listen to my "baby boy" play lost and cry a good cry for this new little boy too :)
  • Watching you by rodney atkins.

  • There is a beautiful and underrated musical called The Robber Bridegroom. It has a bluegrass feel to it, and has one of my favorite songs: Sleepy Man. I tried to find the Liz Callaway recording to share with you (broadway star; singing voice of Anastasia). Although it is actually sung between adults, it is a lullaby, and I've always thought it would be good to sing to a little boy.

Here is a link to a pretty version; lyrics below.

Sleepy Man - From "The Robber Bridegroom"

    "Been a busy day
    With some heavy seas
But you've done your best, sleepy man
    Let your troubles lay
    Let your breathing ease
While I rub your chest, sleepy man
You're all done with the run of the race...for today
You've got plenty of running to face
    Come tomorrow
    I'm right here, always near
Always lovin' my dear, sleepy man
    Not a girl I know
    Has a better deal
Than my life with you, sleepy man
    If I let it show
    How you make me feel
We'll be up 'til 2, sleepy man
You're all done with the run of the race...for today
You've got plenty of running to face
    Come tomorrow
    I'm right here, always near
Always lovin' my dear, sleepy man
    I'm right here, always near
And I love you, my dear sleepy man"

  • Also, "Baby Mine" from Dumbo, but sung by Allison Krauss

    Probably one of my favorites
  • I've got two good ones. One's a little bit silly and one is really tearjerkingly sweet.

"Love You No Matter What" Anthony Green
    "James' Song" Anthony Green

This is my favorite artist. The lyrics are great in both. And he has two little boys... James and Luke!

he loves his mama so, even if she doesn't know
how he got so perfect, our love is the best architect

  • My go to cry about a baby song is Still Fighting It by Ben Folds.  Bonus, here is a way cute little video a dad made for his son to the song.  Freakin tear city.

A song that has made me cry since I've been pregnant is Headlights by Morning Parade.  I plan on GoPro-ing our hospital/coming home stuff and putting together a little ditty to that song so I can watch it and cry.  Totally healthy.
