Stay at Home Moms

Soon to be SAHM Newbie

Hi ladies, I'm 7 weeks pregnant with #2 and have a 13 month old little boy. My husband and I have made the decision that I'm going to stay home once baby #2 comes along. I'm thrilled to stay home and know it's the right decision for our family, but I also must admit I'm scared. I find myself feeling stressed/overwhelmed now from time to time with just my one son, and I work/he's in day care 4 days a week. I'm SO excited to have the time with him and our new baby come March, but I'm nervous about how I'll handle being with them all day every day, too.

Anyone else felt this? Any tips for a soon to be SAHM? Thanks!

  • I am! Are you? Looks like we both have a Bennett, too!
  • Ha! Weird! Yep, I live in Northern MN, but am from the cities. Where are you from? There's a group of us that gtg sometimes :)
  • Welcome!!

@louiej I didn't know you were in Northern MN. My H grew up in Northern MN. I know there are a lot of cities in northern MN, but I still think its fun! I'm in eastern ND...very close to MN.

  • I would find ways to get out of the house and be around other adults every once in a while.  When I was a new SAHM, I got a little job at my church and watched kids during bible studies and mom group meetings.  I think it really helped me to get out of the funk I was in.  It have me a reason to leave the house, make new friends, make a little extra money and I think it was good for DD too.

So my advice is look into joining a mops group.

  • @caybeh I am between Virginia and Ely :) explains a lot, huh? Lol.
  • Louiej- We live in the northern Twin Cities area :)

Disneygeek- that's a good idea. I'll look into Mops groups in the area. Also, I have a few friends in the area who are SAHMs so hopefully we'll get together semi-regularly for playdates, too, which will help I'm sure!
  • Yeah even if you guys just get together for lunch say once a week, it can really help.
