I hate the "full term" debate. All the research I've done, and straight from my doctors mouth- say 37 weeks is considered full term. So that's what I am going by!

Edit: I should add that I fully believe the longer babe stays in there the better and healthier she will be!

::shrugs:: that's why it's an UO. I will choose to believe the research I have personally done and the research of my OB.

Its not just an opinion, if you've done any at all you'd realize that "full" actually means something in this phrase.

Putting on my flame suit. First of all, I want to say I am "Team Epi!" I had an amazing birth with DS and was still able to push effectively and feel the pressure of needing to push with my epi. Hoping for the same great experience with this LO. I kind of hate it when people say since their epi wore off prior or only worked on one side, that they "basically went natural". Ummmmm. No you didn't. You opted for the meds and if they didn't work...you don't get to say you had a natural or med free birth. You still opted to introduce pain relief drugs into your system. You lose your "natural" card. To go med free takes a lot of concentration, focus, and sheer will. Whether your epi wears off or not...you made the decision to take the pain meds. So no medal for you!!! ;) Pet peeve of mine while reading birth stories. Anywho. I'm team healthy baby. However they got here no matter how many meds you were pumped with, it's a great day. I'm looking forward to my medicated happy birth story. At least I hope so. I'd be pissed if my epi didn't take. But I would still never add myself to the "natural" pack if it didn't.
    I completely agree with this!

My UO....I hate most of the "popular" shows.  Such as Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, True Blood, etc.  However, I love shows like Couples Therapy, Keeping up with the Kardashians, etc.  I realize that this makes me look like I am missing a good chunk of my brain.

    Edited to add:
One more UO.  I hate tablets. I would rather do anything on my computer than to try and do it on a tablet!

I think that by "term", they mean that the chance of survival goes way up, and that at 37 weeks, the doctor wouldn't do anything to stop labor at that point.  However, full term is 40 weeks. If 37 weeks was really considered full term, and they believed that babies were done growing at 37 weeks, then 40 weeks would be considered overdue and they would always induce before anyone got to 40 weeks.

I'm not weighing in on the debate as i could care less, but even this website (the bump) says that at 37 weeks baby is full term. If you click on the info about your fruit size it states that. I can understand confusion. Full term or not I just hope all the LO bake as long as they need to.

My doctor says the same above I hate when people say I am 37 weeks and I am full term no, pregnancy is 40 weeks so how can you be full term at 3 weeks early.

    Ok mine...

Not all babies are cute, I pray everyday mine is; however, I have a cousin that was an ugly baby. She grew out of it and is very pretty. I know looks are not everything but come one now, how many of us look a person and be like OMG he/she is ugly but I know they have a great personality.

Even if I could be a SAHM I would not, why???? I have heard to many stories of women's H's leaving and it taking forever to get child support and/or spousal support. Bills going unpaid the woman not sure how her kid is going to eat, etc. I know some women who SAHM have side accounts, I think I could do that maybe. I just want to be able to take care of me and mine.

My friend has a really weird looking little girl. She is gorgeous, so I'm hoping her little princess grows into a swan like her! Because at 3 months...NOT SO MUCH! Haha.

I'm a SAHM, mostly, I do work about 10 to 15 hours a week. But I have to disagree with your logic, respectfully! :). My husband and I have built a life together planning for me to mostly SAH to raise our children. We've been together 11 years and married over 8 of them, and had children a bit older, so we've had a lot of time together to discuss and plan. And I was able to get a good amount of work experience prior to leaving the workforce full time.

Sure, it will take readjustment to renter the workforce once my kids are in school and I won't lie, that idea does scare me a little bit, but I'm pretty secure in my education and skills to hopefully find something that I can excel at. I'm looking forward to my next chapter.

As far as being broke if we split? Meh. I choose a man who will always honor the mother of his children. He would be in an awful pickle if he tried to get custody because he would have to arrange childcare, something he has never had to pay. And isn't something to sneeze at for two kids. So I'm pretty sure we would be taken care of since he wouldn't want his sons living in squalor! :)

Would I have to move out of my 5 bedroom home in the suburbs for a smaller c? Of course. But I don't think id want to stay in the home we bought together and conceived and brought home our babies in...so good riddance.

I can't live my life planning for every bad thing that MAY happen to me. And I don't want my sons to think that way either. Things will happen, circumstances may change, but I any worry about it or live my life anticipating its demise. It's just not me or the environment I want to raise my kiddos in.

HOWEVER. I will totally concede that there are people that blindly put all their eggs in a very flimsy basket. I have known a few people that have experienced the very situation you describe and it's terrible. However there were a TON of red flags prior to the dude leaving them. And in that case, that girl was just dumb!

I can't stand when people get so bent out of shape with the wording natural v non medicated births. It's just words, no one is trying to devalue a medicated birth. Ftr: I'm all for ladies choosing what is best for them, regardless of what I have chosen for my birth plan.

Second, can't stand when people make ignorant statements about pit bulls (or any other breed specific crap). If you are going to speak on this topic please at least know what the hell you are talking about from research or first hand experience....not just repeating shit the media spins.

    Lastly, I hate pickles.

You hate pickles?? Good god, woman! Why?!? They are a food group all their own in my world! :)

I agree with everything else you've said. I don't get why anyone cares if you use pain relief during labor or not. You're not a better mom or woman either way.

This isn't a stay at home mom problem...this is a marriage problem. If I couldn't stay at home out of fear my husband might leave me with nothing...maybe he shouldn't be my husband. Even though I have worked most of our marriage we have one "pot" there is no his and hers in our house so work or stay at home really doesn't matter much.
Thank you, I couldn't figure out how to put this.

Yes, some women do use 37 weeks as a justification for an induction, either medically or using at home remedies. Instead of waiting to at least 40 weeks to try to induce.

Most here agree the longer the babe cooks the better and side eye inductions bc the mom is "uncomfortable." 37 weeks in miserable, but by no means an indication that your baby is ready to be delivered.

Part of it is its just something to discuss besides mucus plugs.

The other part is the number of women who come do a drive by and say, Yay I'm full term at 37 weeks, how can I self induce!!!??

And a final part is it just shows how dumb people are that they listen to non-medically inclined resources instead of actual recognized ones.

I do not think DH would do this, however, I know women a lot of women that thought they were happily married and their Hs left and never looked back. I am talking about women that swear there were no signs. I always told my self I would never be in a situtation where I could not take care of me.

I also know women who Hs passed away suddenly I just never want to be in a oh crap what if situation.

Eh personally I can't live my life worry about what if. If something unexpected happened, it would be hard but I think most women can figure out how to get back on their feet. As someone who personally sees the value of a SAHM (nothing against working ones, Im going to have to work for at least another two years myself!) I think its worth the risk to be able to have that time with my children.

  • My UO: If this baby doesn't come on her own by Monday, I'm following my MW's advice and taking castor oil. I am attempting a VBAC and thus I can't be medically induced, so worst case scenario is, castor oil or c-section.

2nd part of UO: I will be broken hearted if I need a repeat c-section. I've done everything I can to encourage a VBAC and I will feel like something's wrong with my body if it ends up a c-section is what it takes. I just can't get over that way of thinking at this point. I know it's wrong and not productive to think that way, but that's how I feel.

It's not the lack of taste that gets me, it's the taste that shouldn't be there. What comes out of my tap is nasty.
