1 sister, I am the oldest

Hmm...good question. Well, I didn't want any kids until I me DH. Then I wanted 2, then after DD was born I wanted 4, then after I saw how much work they were I settled at 2 again because I want my DD to have a chance to have a great sister relationship like I do.

I'm an only child and it really made me want to make sure my child wasn't an only child. I absolutely hated/hate being an only.

I have 3 siblings, I'm #3 youngest of the girls and I have a younger brother. I'm husband is oldest of six. I think we will end up having 3 kids. There is a 8-9.5 years gap between my older sisters and I, and 8 year gap between my brother and I. I want our kids to be closer in age, I hated not having a sibling closer to my age.

Do you think your family dynamic shaped your idea of an ideal family as far as number of children, etc? I have always wanted a big family, my hubbs doesn't. He wants 3 kids total including my son from a previous relationship, he wants 2 of his own. I'd love to have 3 together. We'll see what happens.

I'm the oldest of two girls. I'm not sure it's particularly affected what I want in a family, when I started TTC I thought I'd love two (one of each of course) but after two losses all I want is a healthy baby, and I'm pretty open to a larger family, however that ends up happening. I don't really want an only child but that's my only criteria.

I am the oldest of four kids: sister 18, brother 15, sister 4

Having such an age gap made me want to have our kids close together. I didn't get close to my siblings until recently and I feel like I missed out on a lot. But I LOVE having a 4 year old sister! My parents are 43 & 50 and we joke with my dad about how we are going to have to help him down the aisle when my baby sister gets married

I have one younger sister, she's exactly two years younger. We are really close, and I can't imagine not having her. Because of this, I always knew I wanted at least two kids. I think we might be up for a third though!

I'm the oldest of 4 between both of my parents second marriages. I have 1 half brother & 2 half sisters. I'm 8 years older than my brother, but he and my sister are less than 2 years apart. They are each other's best friends. That's really made me want to have my kids close in age.

I am the oldest. I have one brother. I think my parents shaped my idea of family life. They are always a team. We were always together.

My husband's family was completely different. His mom and dad are divorced. He has one full younger brother, 2 younger half sisters, 1 younger half brother, 1 older step brother and 1 younger step sister. He pretty much raised himself when his mom and dad got their "new" families.

We parent our son like I was raised. We are loving yet structured. We don't put up with stuff. Our 19 month old knows when we mean what we say. Just like when I was young and my mom gave me "the look."

We wanted our kids to be close in age. Hopefully we will have a girl this time and then we are done. If not...maybe one more

I am the oldest. I have 2 younger sisters who are 6 & 7 years younger than me. My husband was in the exact opposite family dynamic...he had 1 older brother who was 6 yrs older.

Because of this, we both want to have our kids close together.

Im the youngest of 3. I have a older sister who is 31, and older brother who is 28 and Im 26. My sister has a one year old ( we got to share the same bday ! ) and my brother has a 2 year old. I hope to have atleast 2 maybe 3 kids ( this will be mine and Ds first ) . I love kids and so far :: knock on wood :: This preganancy hasnt been too bad yet !

Fun question!

I'm the oldest of 8. haha but really it's Me, a half sis, half bro. Then they have a half sis and half bro (that used to be my step siblings... that I grew up with). And dads side has a half sister and two step sisters.

The baby is 6 years younger than me. muuauahahahaa so we're all very close in age.

I'd say it influenced me. I LOVED my huge family and wouldn't have it any other way. Hubs also had a big family so we''ll stop at 4. hopefully close in age.

I am the oldest. I have a sister two years younger and a brother nine years younger.

My husband is the middle of three, with a brother two years older and a sister two years younger.

We both think three is a good number to have, though if money and time permit we wouldn't be opposed to more. We both have big families with people constantly in and out of the house, so I'd like that for us as well.

My brother is 2 years older. In an ideal world I would have wanted 3, but I didn't marry DH until I was 38 and time is not on our side. But his sister is 3yrs younger and we had similar family dynamics so having 2 kids will be just fine. Honestly, it's more than I thought I would get to have while I was still looking for him!

My husband and I both have one sister each, and I always wished for a bigger family so that holidays and whatnot would be more chaotic (in a fun way). When I was younger I thought I wanted 3-4 kids, but age is not exactly on my side anymore (I'll be almost 35 when this baby is born), and I really don't know if I can mentally get through another another pregnancy after this one. I guess we will see how it goes, since I still would ideally like at least 3 kids.

I am the oldest child in my family, with only one younger brother. I think it's shaped my ideal family because if I end up with a girl this time around, I think we might be done. DH is the oldest of 8 (he has 7 younger brothers and sisters) and I think that he wanted to have a large family because of that, but I think he's recently changed his mind and would be okay with less than 8 (thank goodness!)

Im the youngest of 2, and my DH is the oldest of 2. And there is a 7 years age gap between us and our siblings! I'm cool with having only 2, but Im def thankful we will not have a 7 year age gap! I always felt like an only child!

I am the oldest of 2, my sister is 3 years younger than me. We are very close.

It definitely shaped how i saw my family- I wanted 2 kids about 3 years apart. I have kind of had to come to terms with the fact that having twins means that won't happen. I also don't see myself only getting pregnant once, so i am adjusting to the idea of a bigger family.

I am the youngest (and only girl!) of three. My oldest brother is married with a 2 yr old son and a daughter on the way. My other brother is engaged.

I love the idea of older brothers. As much as I want a girl because I love girl clothes, I want a boy first so my other children will have an older brother. I also only want two kids because I was the youngest and had to sit on the bump in middle of the backseat. Blah!

There's a bit of an age gap between my brothers and I. I aim not to do that... I don't want too much of an age gap!

My mom only had two of us. My dad has a bunch of other kids, too many for me to keep up with.
I'm the eldest, my sister is 25 this year.

Eh, not really. I always wanted three kids. Not sure if I'll try for another after this one though.

I have an older brother and a younger brother. Ideally I want 2 children but since we have to go through fertility treatments to have kids and i'm out of insurance another round will be around 12k. So, we might just be having this one, but we will see.

My husband is an only child and really wants to have 2. I was so close with my younger brother growing up and I love the relationship all 3 of us have now so only having one makes me a little sad that they would miss out on these things.

I am the oldest, my sister is 3.5 years younger. It is a great age gap because we were far enough apart that we didn't compete over things, but close enough to go to high school together for a year and actually be friends. She is honestly my best friend and we are incredibly close.

My husband is an only child. It actually opened up my mind a lot about only having one child because I think that there are a lot of positives that come with being an only.

We are still undecided about how many kids we want. We will either stop at 1 or have 2. Our child(ren) won't have any cousins since my DH is an only and my sister doesn't want kids... I hate the idea of my life without my sister so I am inclined to lean towards two, but once our LO arrives I am not sure how I feel.

We got a dog a few years ago with the intention of getting him "a brother", but honestly we love him so much that we don't want to share our attention with another dog! I just feel like I cant love another dog as much as we love him. If I feel that way about our dog I can't imagine how I will feel about our baby!

1 sister, I'm the youngest.

My sister and I are almost 10 years apart, so I definitely want our kids closer together in age. We want at least two, but probably would stop at 3.

3 siblings (two brothers, one sister). I'm second in line. I do think my large family made me want a large family myself. This pregnancy wasn't planned, but I've always wanted 3 kids. I really want DS to have a brother and DD a sister, but I can't fathom having 4 kids.

Fun idea!

I have two siblings--an older sister and a twin sister. My older sister is 6 years older than me, and I'm 10 minutes older than my twin, so technically that makes me #2/3! :P

I think my family dynamic growing up has shaped my idea of a family to a certain degree. I hate being six years apart from my older sister. Growing up, she was always "so much older" than me and in such a different stage. Even today we're not close and I think this has a lot to do with it. So I definitely close to have my kids closer together in hopes that they'll be closer in their relationship.

I have 6 sisters and 4 brothers.. one of my sisters is deceased.. she passed when she was 29 (in 2009). I am the baby.

I only grew up with 2 sisters .. the one deceased now and my other sister. I do know my other siblings from dad's side. I told mom when I was 16 that I wanted to get in touch with dad's side of the family. She wasn't thrilled with the idea.. but, it was my right to decide.

My mom and dad divorced when I was like 2. Mom had 3 daughters and dad had 4 daughters and 4 sons.

DH only has 1 sister.

I don't think that how many siblings I have has helped us decide how many children we will have. We are letting God decide that. Although, at this stage in the game I don't know how many more times I can do this, lol. I feel so sick.. it makes me feel like saying "one and done".. although I know after this pregnancy we will want more.

I am the oldest. My brother is almost exactly 3 years younger than I am. We have always been really close though. DH is the 2nd oldest of four. I don't know if my family dynamic has really shaped my idea of family or not. I always wanted 4 kids, in the past, but that is because there was only my brother and I, but looking back if there were more I don't think I would have survived...LoL.

DH and I only want 1 or 2 kids though, but that is based on our lifestyle. Also, if we decide to have another one it won't be right away, will probably wait a few years.

I have four boys and my dh has no children outside utero... I always wanted a large family with 6 to 8 children. I AM very blessed to be pregnant for the 6th time praying for a healthy 5th child

I'm the middle child of three, older sister and younger brother. My DH is a middle of three boys.
Right now we both want an even number 2 or 4. I think it's so we wont have a "middle kid". My DH definitely fits the profile of a middle kid but I think I'm more like an older child.

DH and I each have 3 siblings. My twin and I were the youngest in my family.
If I were younger and richer I'd consider having more but this is our second and last. I want to be able to afford to stay home with them. And have them out of the house by the time I hit retirement age!

We each come from big families. I'm 5 of 8, and he is 6 of 7. I had 4 brothers, 3 sisters; and he has 2 brothers, 4 sisters. I think we'll end up having 3 or 4 kids. We are from Utah where big families are abundant and the norm!

All of my older siblings are married, and I have two younger that are still too young! I have two nephews and three nieces on my side. On DH's side we've got 5 nieces, and 5 nephews, with two more nephews on the way!

Who knows what our family will turn out to be. But I'm very excited. I'm sure whatever it is will be perfect!

I am the third out of 4 kids: Older sister, older brother, and younger sister (by 1 yr 4 days)
I initially want 2-3 kids, and we are there already with twins this time around, so we will see if we will have more after these wonderful ones come around.
I loved growing up in a big family, always someone around to bug, or to bug me. My younger sis and I were so very close and still are. So I am really going to love that my LO's get to have that experience.
