Where did all the Dad's go?

When I joined in February it seemed like there were quite a few of us. Now there's only a handful who consistently post. I'm assuming this is due to guys being busy with work, kids, etc. Where's LadyJenna, David Stamps, Prime, JacksDad?

@Coltsdad had a due date list and looking over it, a lot of the due dates have come and gone and we haven't had any updates, except from Prime. If any of you guys are lurking, how are you doing these days?

I thought Prime still posted now and then.

Not sure about Jacksdad. I think he only lasted a short time.

There was also that RockusVultron (I know I totally messed his name up, but I just can't remember) - I went to a different board one day and saw him posted. I think he betrayed us.

RockyTop seems to post more (if at all) on Parenting, and maybe his month board, and not much here.

Most of the guys we get seem to be post and runners unfortunately where they post once, maybe twice, and then disappear. Sucks because the more dads we have in here, the more varied the conversation, and the more conversations in general.

We need more variation. Pretty soon I will have exhausted the web's collection of bacon pics. Boobs on the other hand, there's an infinite amount.

Yo!

I'm totally guilty! I haven't posted in over 4 months! I switched to a different job and my life became consumed with work and a kid that is growing like a weed and wanting all of my attention...which is great, but the days of giving him a bottle and multi-tasking are over. This kid is walking, blabbering and wanting to play 24/7. It's awesome, but really tough to get other norms in at any other time. BUT...I'm back and trying to do better.

I'm new here, have my first due at the end of October. I frequent this board daily but only lurk. I guess I'd be more apt to post if I didn't have this girly image. Any idea how I can change that?

Welcome and congrats! Concerning the avatar, you should be able to go into your preferences to insert a picture. I just copied a URL from an image I found on google and pasted it into the avatar edit screen. I'm on mobile right now so I can't give you a better description than that.

I think you can find a whole thread about it somewhere.

Prime's wife gave birth. Between caring for the new baby and his work, he pretty much has zero free time.

RTV seriously cut back hanging out here due to his work getting crazy.

I may not post as frequently as I did when I first joined. With work, the wife not working, and just trying to get everything ready for Oct. Top it off our basement flooded on Fathers day, finally settled with whirlpool and we should be getting the new flooring by the end of the week.

It's a little shocking how fast the 3rd trimester has been going but I'm extremely psyched to meet him. Tomorrow we have an ultrasound so it will be interesting to see how things have changed since the last one which was at 20 weeks.

This was literally the first thing I was going to do though.

Thanks for the advice @jack19 @polooo26. I understand that it's going to be tough and I'm looking forward to the challenges. I'll be sure to spam the board with all of my questions about changing diapers and how not to fall asleep at your desk.

The wife is 28 weeks pregnant this week, things are starting to get even more exciting!

Yeah we are quickly realizing that it almost seems like we have something every weekend between no and when he arrives. My wife is a teacher so she starts school in the next couple of weeks. Between getting ready for that and all the baby showers we are almost booked solid.

Yeah, with our first, he was right around Christmas (one week prior to be exact), so talk about hectic! Between Thanksgiving, showers, Christmas stuff, we were constantly on the go and the next thing we knew he was here.

The last trimester FLIES by, but not in comparison to when he/she is here. You look down one day and you are holding a 6 month old and you ask yourself "Wasn't he/she born like last week???"

Another piece of advice for the soon to be dads:

Take pictures. LOTS of pictures. With the sleep deprivation and everything with taking care of a newborn, things will get lost in your memory... those pictures are a great reminder of those first days. I love going back through my Facebook albums of both of the kids first couple of months.

Yes its a boy. He's are first and we couldn't be more excited. His due date is currently the end of October, but as of our last visit he was measuring a week or so bigger so he may come sooner. Thanks for all the advice. Its nice to have a place to come and chat
