Mom purse

I am a minimalist; I only bring what I think I will need and not much more. What is the minimum you feel you need in your mom purse or diaper bag? What can't you do without? DH complains when he asks for things and I don't have them. MIL is always chiding me for not having more stuff in my diaper bag. I am good with some diapers, wipes, and pacifiers. I only over pack for vacation, and that's so I have outfit options. Help me pack my bag, please. What should I be carrying?

Re: Mom purse

  • An extra set of clothes at least a onesie, because you never know if they are going to blow up,or throw up all over their clothes. I have all the things you mentioned plus the extra clothes.

  • In addition to what was mentioned, I also always bring a bottle with water and formula since we're EFF. I always have a blanket, burp cloth, little garbage bags, changing pad, and hand sanitizer.

  • I do try to have extra clothes and burp cloths. I forgot about that. I keep telling myself to put hand sanitizer in there. I think I need to pack two bags. That's a good idea @LibbyLouHoo.

  • I take a ton of stuff with me but I will sometimes leave it in the car and just take a clutch with changing pad diapers wipes and burp cloth into the store.

  • I put a diaper clutch and nursing cover in my medium size purse. I always have hand sanitizer in there. I have extra clothes in the car. With ds i always had a big diaper bag. I rarely needed it all, so I'm simplifying this time around. In the clutch i have a disposable changing pad that i just hereto reusing until i can't anymore.
  • My current diaper bag has: diapers, wipes, small container of diaper creme, changing pad, a thing of toy/pacifier wipes that I thought was cool but hardly ever use, a little plastic bag dispenser to put dirty diapers or clothes in, a spare outfit, a hat, a bib, baby related coupons, a toy or two, plus a bunch of stuff for me and my older girls (a lip gloss, mirror, my wallet/cell phone/keys, usually a pen and paper of some kind, hand and face wipes, a hair brush and elastics for my girls, a small container of band-aids and some kid's Polysporin for boo-boos at the park) as well as snacks for all or us. As you can probably tell, I'm not a minimalist. I like to be prepared for the things are are likely to happen. For example, DD2 is pretty accident prone, so it's likely we will have some cuts and scrapes while we are out at some point. So I bring the band-aids and Polysporin. Most of the other stuff you didn't mention is added or taken away as I think we'll need it depending on how long the trip is going to be.

HTH, and GL! (I would also be tempted to tell DH to pack the extras that he wants himself if I was you)
