Impossible time cleaning down there :-(

This Breaks my heart every time I try to clean my nearly 2 1/2 year old's pee pee. She started giving us a hard time little by little and so I was never really able to clean in there really good.....Esp after. Messy diaper. My MIL has pretty much not backed down from the screaming and squirming and just got in there to get any yuckies out, but I'm thinking w all the fighting back, She may have Hurt her and now it's near impossible to do. I don't know what to do to comfort her and let her know we won't hurt her and are just trying to clean in there. It's awful :*~<

  • That's for health so you really just have to do it. Try to distract her with fun things during diaper changes. We sing songs, practice animal sounds, counting, have another person play with her and even give her the nook to play with. If she just isn't having it then I just hold her down, it has to get done.

  • This will probably sound gross, but it worked for my DD.  I would say something like, "Mama has to clean you up, here let me show you what I'm getting out of there."  Then I would wipe her, show her the dirty wipe and say, "See that's why mama has to wipe you."  And before I would wipe I would say, "Mama is going to look first, I won't wipe until I tell you I'm going to."  This helped to sort of get her in a good position and helped me to sort of get a good look before I started wiping.  Of course I always warned her before I started wiping.
  • when you have the chance I would do a preliminary wipe of the chuncks and then use a shower sprayer for the detail work. Have you tried differnt brands of wipes or using damp wash clothes? The wipes may be stinging her and making her fight it. I agree with other posters that it is very important to clean her well as this can lead to bladder infections and other yuckies. Good luck, I know its rough doing things they don't like

  • What about a wipe warmer? It might be more soothing.

  • Is it possible she had a partial adhesion of her vaginal lips that your MIL tore while forcing the cleaning? Maybe try a bath with some Epsom salts to aide in the healing process?

  • Have you tried potty training her? she should be ready at that age and then you won't have to deal with the clean-up as much.  I show my DD the toilet paper when she doesn't want to be cleaned and she's grossed out and wants it out.  Also, you can try putting her on the toilet seat after and pour warm water from a cup down there, my DD likes that for cleaning her private area nightly.
