Pack-n-play hatred anyone?

Omg, this kid will not let me do a damn thing unless she's napping.  I try the pack and play and 90% of the time she just freaks out as if I'm torturing her.  She just stands there and cries and cries.  *sigh*  It's just so aggravating because if she's not in it she won't sit still.  And the bouncer doesn't work much anymore either.  I don't know what to do with her.  Absolutely nothing gets done anymore.

  • This has been my hell for 4 months. My stuff gets done at night or on the weekends when my husband is home. There's no way I've been able to chase a crawling baby and get my shit done. It just doesn't happen anymore.

  • And FWIW, she's a 20 minute napper. I have enough time to lay down and breathe before she's up again, so I'm CONSTANTLY on the move.

  • Yes, she loses her mind at the first inkling we are caging her in the pack n play.

Bouncer pulled into the kitchen with me and scatter some puffs in the various toys usually buys me some chore time.

We have a freestanding gated in play area taking over our living room and have found if I get in with her and get her interested in something she will usually play independently when I get out.
  • I put Henry in his high chair and pour some Cheerios on the tray. He snacks and entertains himself while watching me work.

  • Same here. We found that DS2 doesn't mind it so much first thing in the morning. So that's when I can wake up and make coffee and get DS1 breakfast. Pretty much after he gets out of there (usually 20 min), he doesn't want it anymore. If I absolutely need to get some things done, I'll let him cry and when he realizes he's in there for a bit he'll stop and play. But that doesn't last too long either. We're looking to get a superyard and maybe it will be better. I don't get much of anything done until DH gets home from work or on the weekends. I really don't get much done during the week because by the time DH gets home, he watches the baby while I do my Inanity workout. Then I have to cook dinner (DH goes for a run) and then we eat and then I clean up the kitchen and then it's time for bedtime routines. After that, if it's not too late I can get a load of laundry or something done but that's about it. I'm looking for a part time job as well or a weekend job, so if that happens I don't know when I'll get housework done!

  • Ugh, sooo glad there's so many of you that have this...not that it's a good thing, lol.  It's just there are so many people going "Oh, my kid loved the pack-n-play."   Um, that's nice.

I'll do the Cheerios in the high chair too if I'm working in the kitchen...but it's the rest of my house at this point that needs attention.  And since she's terrified of the vacuum, that's the chore that is the hardest to do, especially upstairs because it wakes her up.

I'm so tempted to ask my parents to take her today....I actually have energy to do something when I got the breakfast dishes and my shower done, she woke up.  Probably because I kept praying for one of her 2 hour naps.  Le sigh.

Also...20 minute naps would make me sooooo mad lol.  Thankfully she's not that on most days.
  • Henry also still loves the jumper...He'll just bounce endlessly in that thing if he's in the mood.  It's hit or miss, but it keeps him in one place.
