I thought I was prepared to hear the bad news today about DH's SA. Well, it was way worse than I expected. He has 0 sperm. The testosterone destroyed them. I knew it would be bad, but I thought there would be something there.

Ugh, goo thing we're headed to the RE on Monday. Hopefully we can find a replacement drug for him. Although, it doesn't help that DH is sitting here saying he won't be able to get the other drugs b/c of our insurance. :-/ I wish he would just wait for a while, talk to the doctor and then we'll deal with the insurance afterwards.

It's one of those days when I could just cry over everything (this and other stuff) and he's not helping right now.

Thanks ladies! I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't expect nothing. Ugh, I'm glad we chose to have it done now and not 6 months down the road at the 1 year mark.

Thanks again for the support. It's nice to be able to have people to talk to about this. DH doesn't want me telling anyone (which I understand), but I need to talk to let it sink it and be able to accept it.

I am sorry that you did not get the news you were hoping for. That is devastating. Hopefully your insurance company will work with you on covering it. If it is billed under anything BUT "infertility" it will likely be covered. Also maybe you can get your PCP to write the prescription that your RE recommends?

Try to find a way to keep your minds busy between now and your appointment. I think one of the hardest things is waiting on doctors, or results, or the next thing to try.

I'm so sorry that you didn't get better news. How is your DH taking it? I think I remember you saying he didnt think it was going to be a problem...so I'm guessing this was quite a shock.

Hopefully the RE will have answers that will get things back to the bright side again.

DH is a little bummed right now.think he's feeling conflicted at the moment. He kept saying that the testosterone makes him feel good, but he's bummed that 'he can't do what a guy is supposed to do'.

He went directly to the negative place of 'I'm not going to be able to take anything' because of insurance etc and telling me to be prepared for the pre-testosterone hubby back. I'm more of a wait and see what the doctor says on Tuesday. We may be able to afford things.

@Brookema90 He was diagnosed with hypogonadism/low-testosterone in Feb 2012 and has been on depo-testosterone (testosterone injections) since Feb. 2012. His GP had originally told us that we should be fine with TTC. Luckily I did some research and pushed for the SA.

That's tough. I think that's common with guys though...to go to that negative place when they feel like they have let someone down. Hopefully after a few days to let it sink in he'll feel more open to looking for ways to work it out.

That's what I'm hoping @maltwin1. I think he'll be fine and I'm sure the RE will help us out. I'm so glad our appt is next week and we don't have to wait to see the urologist. That appt isn't until 9/11/13.

I'm glad you went in now too instead of waiting. I hope insurance works out and you are able to move forward with TTC.

Sorry about the bad SA results. Maybe your pharmacy would be willing to work with you on the cost of the meds. Some pharmaceutical companies have programs for people without insurance coverage as well. FX your RE comes up with a plan that works for you guys.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wanted to just share that we just went in to get DH's SA yesterday and he's at 1 million (from low testosterone). Doctor put him on Clomid which should raise count and testosterone. But, it takes at least 3 months to see a difference. So, yesterday and today have been rough. Lots of crying, too. You're not alone!
