3rd Trimester

Dizzy and disoriented @ 30 weeks.

Woke up this morning in a sweat and very dizzy, felt like I might pass out.  I've been lightheaded and foggy ever since.  I also have had a head ache since last night.  Been exhausted for a few days.  I have an 11 month old.  Only had 5 mos btwn pregnancies.  Due in 10 weeks.  I have low iron and I take a supplement for it.  I ate big breakfast, drank gatorade, had some caffiene, took my vitamins, all the things that usually help but I'm still feeling very off.  Anyone experience anything similar?  I can't really go on bedrest because I SAH full time with my toddler and he keeps me busy.  I hate feeling like this and I'm hoping to get my energy back soon cuz this sucks.  I'm about to take some Tylenol to at least help the head ache.

Re: Dizzy and disoriented @ 30 weeks.

  • Call your dr. Do you have family around to take care of your LO?  Sometimes the primary caretaker is sick and that's all there is to it...

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • I'd definitely be putting in a call to your OB. They will be able to help you much more than we can. You know your body and if something feels off you need to let them know.

Yep. You will have to adjust if you go on bed rest. Care.com and Sittercity.com. Make arrangements if you have to.

  • I know you said you drank Gatorade, but make sure you get a lot of water in you too! It could definitely be dehydration. But if you are truly concerned, talk to your OB! Feel better soon!

This is happening to me. They checked my blood sugar, iron, I was in L&D for an afternoon, now I wear compression socks for low BP.... It doesn't happen everyday for me but the only thing that has helped is laying down for a couple of hours.

My doctor thinks it might be baby putting pressure on arteries and vessels in my back and restricting blood flow. The only thing that will help is birth. I'm really small framed and as baby gets bigger it has happened more frequently.

    Hope this helps.

  • I hope you're feeling better and u went in to get checked. You can't be too careful
  • You defiantly need to call your dr. I would imagine the they will want to bring you in to check your BP.
  • Ok, so my MW said that sort of thing is normal.  To make sure I keep my fluids up, drinking mostly gatorade.  And if I pass out then I need to call her (obviously).  My BP has been great, they're thinking it has to do with dehydration.

  • Also, I've cut out most of my caffeine over the past few days and it seems to be helping.

  • I 2nd the dehydration theory.. My doctor says dehydration can cause so many problems such as this in late pregnancy.  Do call your doctor though just to make sure.
  • I was waking up dizzy like that too.. turns out I was sleeping on my back in the middle of the night and not knowing it and the baby was lying on a large artery, cutting off blood flow.. I put some pillows on each side of me to stop that habit and since then I have been fine. I was also low in iron and started taking that supplement too.

I know a while back when I cut out caffeine I had horrible headaches for the first few days/weeks.  Just take it easy and call back if things don't get better or get worse.
  • I'm having heart issues that require me to see a cardiologist. I experience all of that minus the disorientation. Sooo...it could be a lot of things, but it could also not be a lot of things. Call your OB.

  • During my 1st pregnancy I had some bad chest pains that would go into my back and down my arm.  It was hard to breathe and would wake me up at night sometimes.  So I ended up going to the ER and they didnt find anything other than, my heart is designed differently than most.  I have like only 2 arteries coming off, where I'm supposed to have 3.  So they wanted me to see a cardiologist after I delivered... but I didnt :-/  It happened again last week, another theory is really bad heartburn so I thought I would try Maalox next time.  Kind of scary stuff, pregnancy can cause our bodies to act really weird!
