If you're having a girl, what colors are you using in her nursery?

I do not want to go the traditional route of having a ton of pink in the nursery. We got a large white hummingbird wall sticker and are planning on painting the wall behind it a shade of blue and then the other walls some kind of neutral sand/beige color. I do worry that it will look too much like a boy's room though.

How are you making the room "girly" if you're not using pink/purple?

Re: If you're having a girl, what colors are you using in her nursery?

  • Sorry, using pink - multiple shades of pink - but still... Pink.
  • Loading the player...
  • I don't like the color pink so our nursery is all done in lavender tones and is a butterfly theme.

The colors are a dark burgandy color, purple, and two shades of lavendar

  • I think your idea sounds great.  The hummingbird alone I think makes the  room feminine.  We don't know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but either way, the nursery would be the same.  We'll probably paint the walls yellow and/or green and are using this bedding:  circus

  • I really wanted her to have a pink room, but DH is dead set against it.  Right now the plan is to do a pink and green room - probably with light green walls and pink accent pieces throughout the room.
  • We're actually doing a brown, with green and pink accents... Not sure what it's going to look like yet, but I know those are the colors we're using...
  • Our bedding is an aqua/beige color, so we did a more feminine shade of aqua and the bedding has daisies on it. I think that's 'girly' enough...at least for my tastes!!!

  • The nursery is currently our guest room and is painted Pecan (darker orangish).  We plan on keeping the color since we just painted it a few months ago and we really like the color.  For bedding, we're sticking with all neutrals... beige, brown, white, tan.  We like the organic bedding and they mostly come in these colors anyway.  If we do any pink it will probably only be on her, her clothes and stuff, but not the decor or gear.

  • I am a very anti-pink person. Having said that, our 4 year old daughter's room was recently redone in pink, brown and white. She really wanted it. But at least it has a lot of modern looking shelving, furniture and pictures, so I'm happy. And it's not a powder pink color... more like a rose.

The new baby (also a girl) is moving into my old office, which is painted blue. I really don't want to repaint it, so I ?have to figure out a way to make it more girly (without pink). Maybe blue and green with touches of dark grey. Haven't thought about it much yet.?

  • I also don't want a pink nursery...I am painting the walls different shades of seafoam (stripes on one wall fading from darker seafoam to almost white) and I have a dandelion wall decal I found on etsy.  The furniture is white and although I don't love pink I plan to add accessories that are fushia and more girly colors.  I also have a zebra print rug thats tan and white I got from westelm.com.

Oh and I don't love themes so I'm trying to stay away from that.

  • The room is currently Milk Chocolate brown.  We're going to do an accent in either a soft green or bright aqua.  We're still undecided.  The bedding has greens, brown, and a few shades of blue.  It has turtles on it.  It's very gender-neutral looking.
  • You can always add girly type things too- flowers, hearts, more hummingbirds or butterflies as accents to girlify it more.  That way you can stick with your original color ideas but not be overboard pink.

  • Our colors are sage green, cream and light pink.
  • I did a dark brown on the bottom part of the wall, then a  white chair rail, and a sage green on top.  The accesories are all light pink and fuschia.  I have pics in bio.

  • I too didn't want to do a lot of pink.  We found some really cute bedding at Target that is pink, brown, and white, but not too fluffy or girly.  For the walls, we did a chocolate brown color, with pink and brown stripes below the chair rail, and all of our furniture is a darker color.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out, it does have some pink, but it's not overly girly.
  • White everything with touches of color can be beautiful and girly in a classy way.

  • We find out on thursday, but if it's a girl, it will be a combo of white and turquoise <sp>

This will be on one wall:

  • Brown & green. We got the bedding in last night and we love it! It has more of a lime hint than dark green, but it's perfect!

I don't care that it's not "girly." I just don't like any of that frilly girly stuff at all!

  • We are sticking with vintage. We're doing vanilla and mocha stripes on top with vanilla bead board on bottom and an old fashion print for the bedding. I'll girly it up with a lamp with a little frill and some silk accents on the fabrics
  • pink, black, and white
  • I'm planning to do pale pink, white and cream.
