Success after IF

Schedule?

What kind of schedule do you have your LO on? It's always fun to compare!

S is 14 weeks and eats 5 oz every 2 to 3 hrs. Right now she goes to bed around 7:30 and sleeps until 4:30 or 5, then I give her a bottle and she goes right back to sleep until I wake her up around 6:45. She goes to daycare and doesn't have a great nap routine there. Lately it's been three 40-minute naps. She'll have a quick nap when I get her home from daycare (20 or 30 mins) then we start her bedtime routine of bath, nursing and bottle at 6:30.

Re: Schedule?

  • We are on the EASY schedule - Eat, Activity, Sleep, You... They usually eat around every three hours (give or take). Then I burp/change them and have some activity time. We read books, have tummy time, sing songs, talk, etc. then after they have been awake for about a hour total they go back to sleep and start the whole cycle again. They typically eat around 6:30pm and after that we start bedtime routine. Right now we just dim the lights and have calm time. Sme nights we do baths but not every night yet. Then they go to sleep around 7:30ish. I wake them to eat before I go to bed at 9:45 but they go right back to sleep after that. They have not MOTN feeding around 2:30am and sleep until 6:30ish. Then we start over. We still do one up both up to keep them on the same schedule.

  • Grace kind of made her own schedule! It's kind of like this: Wake up at 6, eat, back down for an hour. For the middle of the day it's sort of the EASY schedule. She eats on demand, which is usually every 3 hours. Then it's play time (playmat, read, walk, tummy time, etc). Then nap. Her day time naps are usually only 20-30 minutes. Bedtime routine starts at 5pm: bath, bottle, rock swaddle. In bed at 6:30. She STTN.

A is almost 18-months old and she's on a schedule-ish.  We aren't very strict and follow her cues, and it works for us.

She gets up between 7:30-9am (usually 8a-8:30am), goes down for a nap between 12:30p-1:30pm and will sleep for 90 minutes to 2 hours, bath starts around 7:30pm, and then bedtime is 8:30p-9p.  She eats constantly throughout the day lots of little meals in her high chair.  We've always eaten dinner late, so DH and I just have dinner after she goes to bed.

  • Boys wake up anytime from 6-8am, but we dont get them out of cribs until 7:40am when its time to change/dress for day. 1st bottle at 8am, activity time, then nap at 10am. Always keep all 3 on same schedule. Nap 1-2 hrs, then bottle at noon. If up before noon, quiet time in crib or activity time in playroom. After noon bottle, activity time then nap at 2pm. Same as in morning, try to get them to nap until 4pm, but if not, then quiet time/activity. 4pm bottle, activity, quiet time/nap at 6pm. 6:30 bathtime, 7pm bottle, all in bed by 8pm. We also give solids after 8am and 4pm feedings. Boys sleep through night.

  • When M was that age, he had a similar schedule.

M is now almost 9 months.  On most days, we have a pretty predictable schedule:

Wake up 6:30am, nurse, then breakfast (solids)
    1st nap around 9:30 or 10am, naps for 2hours
2nd nap around 3:30 or 4pm, naps for 1-1.5 hours
Dinner at 6:30pm, bedtime at 8:15-8:30pm

He nurses 6x a day (wake up, before/after both naps, bedtime).

Having said that, he mightly fought his first nap this morning.  We were both miserable!  Finally he went down for his nap at noon and slept for 2.5 hours.  Then he fought his second nap.  My goodness.  It was not a good day for me.  Hopefully he'll go back on his regular schedule tomorrow.

  • We don't have and schedule or routine yet, we've just been trying to power through our nursing issues. However this post makes me realize I'm going to have to come up with something soon so I can fit it around DS1's school drop off and pick up schedule. Yikes!!
