I need a new OB/GYN

Hello Ladies!

I'm a newbie to The Bump and to pregnancy. I am currently 4/5 weeks along. My gyno is terrible. She is frigid and her office is in disarray and disorganized which stresses me out beyond belief. The nurse in her office is not friendly whatsoever, which should not that big of a deal but it is to me.

I want a female ob/gyn who is organized, knowledgeable, friendly, and just all around awesome. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much!

  • Try seven oaks, they have several Drs. And are affiliated with the Methodist Hospitals in Medical Center and Stone Oak, Also Dr. Largoza she is really good and she is in the Medical center and can deliver at the Methodist Hospital in Medical Center too, Congratulations and good luck!

  • Dr Largoza at the medical center. Delivers at Methodist, heard its the best. Or Dr Van de putte. She delivers at the birthplace. She's super nice and very up to date. She takes the time to sit and explain everything.

  • I love seven oaks! My obgyn is dr satteffield. She is the best! Really friendly and makes you feel comfortable and not rushed.
  • Check out Four Seasons OB/GYN. It is in the Medical Center. There are two female doctors, both GREAT! The office is very nicely decorated, it is very girlie and comfortable.

  • This might be something you can look into, if you're interested. I am 31 weeks and have been going to the San Antonio Burth Center. They are a group of midwives who practice natural birth methods. They also take care of all your prenatal care. They take the time to sit with you and answer questions. They are really great.

I love dr. Jacobs at lone star obgyn. She delivers at Methodist or st Luke's baptist, your choice.
  • Dr. John Adams at the Institute for Womens's Health is wonderful!!!
  • I go to Institute for Women's Health at Hardy Oaks and I love it there! Wait time can be a little long but the nurses are amazing and so is my OB, Dr. Suris. I'd heard great recommendations and have been very pleased.

I started out with Dr. Largoza and to be honest I never met the doctor. The nurse practitioner was great, a little blunt but I didn't mind that, I'd rather know what's going on. The downside for me was that since their office is in such an old building everything came off just feeling out dated and dirty. I know that's probably kinda prissy, but it was just mine and my husband's opinion. If it doesn't bother you then you'd probably be very happy there!

  • I'm switching to Dr. Law since Akright only does gyno which was why I chose him in the 1st place . Wasn't planning a new baby but there ya go!
  • Dr Law is great!!! I'm so thankful that she is my ob. I love her and north central baptist hospital too.

  • I want to piggyback this because I too need a new OBGYN. The only difference is I LOVE my doctor but the office is a nightmare. This is my second child and the office has become so disorganized that its almost intolerable. I live near downtown and go to the IFWH and see Dr. Askew. Its a very convenient location for me but I am willing to switch for a better office environment. Does it even exist any more to have low wait times and an organized office??
  • Does there tend to be a long wait time?

  • I second Dr. Jacobs at Lonestar Ob/Gyn. I've seen her throughout two pregnancies. She delivered my first who was born on a weekday during office hours. My second was delivered by the on call doctor, Dr. Williams (I think) in the middle of the night. Dr. Williams is male, so you do take a chance that the on call doctor will be male. I believe she ends up delivering 80% of her patients. I've heard great things about all the doctors at Lonestar OB/Gyn.

Another option is using the Lonestar Midwives. They only deliver at St. Luke's but are supposed to be great and they are all women. The Lonestar Doctors are their back up if you end up needing a C-section.

Someone else mention the San Antonio Birth Center and they're also great. I have a friend using them for her current pregnancy and my doula loves them. There is also a newer birthing center in Stone Oak if that's a route you're interested in. Good luck
  • Dr. Jacobs is super efficient especially if you have a morning appointment. Her receptionist knows who I am when I walk in and her nurse is really on top of things. I have had a few long waits but I assume that she's had a delivery that has thrown off the schedule that day. I've actually had appointments where I've been in and out before my actual appointment time.
  • Dr law with northeast Obgyn! I never wait long at all. She sees patients at the stone oak and Schertz locations :)
