GTKY: What are your favorite shows?

With The Bachelorette ending next week (really one of the only shows I watch in the summer) and a long wait until the end of September when all the shows start up again, I wanted to start watching something new and catch up on past seasons while I have nothing else to watch.

So... what are your favorite TV shows?

I just started watching Downton Abbey and it only took me about 2 weeks to watch all 3 seasons (I watched on my lunch breaks, etc.) SO GOOD. But I now want to stab ALL of their writers. Can't wait for season 4 to start in January.

I also watch... Parenthood (my fav), Grey's, Nashville and Chicago Fire. Oh and RHOBH (my guilty pleasure.)

I am getting used to British television. We only have basic cable, but still get a couple really good shows.

My current favorites are the White Queen (based on the book by Philippa Gregory), Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, and the Paradise. I am a history nerd and love period shows. Lucky for me, the UK has a lot of those types of shows here

Right now I'm DVRing the following; RHOC, Tia & Tamera, Giuliana & Bill, Kardashians, & Sister Wives. I'm sure there are a few i'm missing. I watch a lot of Sex and the City reruns, too.

I really want to start Downton Abbey! Also I'm a season behind on New Girl and Parenthood. Lately we've been watching Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition (tonight) and Masterchef (Wednesday).

Lol....everything thats on! Currently Mistresses is really good on ABC. I also have a free trial of HBO for 3 months so I watched all of Game of Thrones and True Blood. I have no life!

During the year I love Greys Anatomy, Parenthood, Vampire Diaries, Revenge, and Once Upon a Time. Like I said I watch way too many shows!

Scandal is AMAZING. Also by Shonda Rimes, of Grey's Anatomy fame. Under the Dome is new the summer and pretty good. I have also heard excellent things about Orphan Black, on BBC America. 10 episode season is on demand for me. But really, Scandal is so freaking good.

Nashville, Glee, Big Bang Theory and Army Wives are my faves. I also have been sucked into the Extreme Weight Loss show - I seriously cry every week when I watch that show. Yeesh. I'm a big Food Network fan and watch a lot of those shows, too [especially The Pioneer Woman and Chopped].

I also started watching a lot of HGTV when I was on bed rest earlier this month, and I looooove The Property Brothers.

MarBee1214 - DH watches Wicked Tuna, Swamp People and Duck Dynasty...I watch those occasionally. My husband hunts & fishes if you can't tell. We also watch Sons of Anarchy, Justified and Boardwalk Empire together.

I watch Nashville, Grey's, Parenthood, just got into Mistresses too. Also, Modern Family, Revenge, & New Girl.

Man I am a TV Junkie (I watch most on DVR as time allows). I watched even more that won't be back this season (Smash, Private Practice, The Office, Gossip Girl, 90210)

I watch Dexter religiously. Other than that if I'm in charge of the remote its on HGTV usually. I also watch a lot of murder shows, i.e. snapped, killer couples, and anything on bio hd.

@sugarland726- I heard great things about Scandel. Hmm. I also was a fan of Private Practice, so I clearly like Shonda Rimes shows. I started watching Under the Dome and couldn't really get into it. DH watches it now though. #myfault

@OSUWifey09- I already watch A LOT of HGTV. Too much.

@ac1259 & @laxnpro- I watch Mistresses now and love it. That and Royal Pains, which I've watched since the show started. They're really my 3 summer shows (along with The Bachelorette). And I couldn't live without my DVR. I have 3 kids, so I can only watch once they go to bed!

My favorites currently are Dexter (final season) and Ray Donovan (new Showtime show). I also like the new show Mistresses on ABC.

Normal season I watch Grey's and New Girl.

My favorites: Good Wife, Once Upon a Time. Still watching Grey's but stopped loving it about 3 seasons ago. When the netflix updates their streaming selection will catch up on Mad Men, Parenthood and Downton.

Of the oldies I miss Numb3rs, Gilmore Girls and Without a Trace.

Love Big Bang Theory and How I met your mother (though I'm glad that one is ending this season, its' gotten way too drawn out). I'm hoping to start Downton Abbey when on maternity leave and I'm a season behind on Grey's as well.

I think the only place to find all the seasons online is Hulu plus. I was lucky enough to find the dvd's at my library!

I watched Seasons 1 & 2 On Demand. But Season 3 is now owned by Amazon so you have to watch it on Amazon Streaming. If you have a Prime account it's FREE. If not, you have to pay per episode.

I watched Grey's and Private Practice, and even Off The Map when it was on. I never did Scandal until last month. I thought "I like all the other Shonda shows, why would I think I wouldn't like this?" Within 3 episodes I was hooked. Passing off bedtime duties to DH so I could cram in more episodes at night and staying up late to finish. There is a marathon on 8/10 and 8/17 on the BET channel of the first and second season to catch people up (they picked up the rerun rights).

I love Grey's, Nashville, and Vampire Diaries. For reality shows we watch Master Chef, Extreme Makover Weightloss Edition, and Hell's Kitchen.

I know I'm forgetting some that we watch but I guess those are my favs. I'm thinking of trying Call the Midwife. I've heard great things. I think it's on Hulu so worth a shot!

ETA: I forgot Sherlock! Anxiously awaiting the third season!

My current faves are Grimm, Suits, Psych, The Good Wife, Call the Midwife, and The Newsroom. DH and I watch a ton of sports, so I don't watch a whole lot of actual shows. I hate reality TV with a passion...

True Blood, Walking Dead, the Fall (a new one with Gillian Anderson), the Following. I'm more into crime, drama etc. Person of Interest and Elementary are good too. The only ones with shows on currently are True Blood and the Fall. We're waiting for everything else to start up again next season.

Why do some of these shows only have 8 - 12 shows.....that's only 3 months out of the year, what do they think we'll do with the other 9 months?!

Also @mrsjenni what's RHOBH?

LOVE AHS!! My husband is freaked out that I like it so much. I'm also a huge RHNJ fan (reminds me of the crazy North Jersey Italian side of my family, lol).

Also Parenthood, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Law & Order SVU, and guilty pleasure is 19 Kids and Counting, lol.

If you enjoyed Downton Abbey I would highly highly suggest Call the Midwife. It is amazing!! I found the previous seasons on someone's blog because I think PBS got rid of the first season. In fact I think I'm looking forward to the next season of CTM more than DA.

Preface: I watch too much TV. I know half my shows will be given up when LO gets here.

FRIENDS is my all-time fav. I own all of the seasons on DVD and I watch them pretty frequently.

Currently I watch: Grey's, Dexter (sad!), Homeland, Survivor, Big Brother, RHOC, RHNOJ, RHOBH, RHONY, Bachelor/Bachelorette (although I basically skipped this season. I can't stand Des.), Game of Thrones, MTV Challenges, Modern Family, Dateline, The Following, and my super guilty pleasure for this summer has been Mistresses. (It's okay if you're judging me.) OH! And DH and I started Ray Donovan. So. Good.

I'm hoping by eliminating Housewives after LO gets here (just keeping up online and catching eps here and there) I can hang on to the rest since some are during the summer and most are things DH and I watch together.

I also can't wait to see Michael J. Fox's new series this fall.

@bethughknee We still watch all of our shows, even with a 2 year old. DVR and binge watching FTW LOL H and I are total tv people too. When E was really little I would watch tv during her middle of the night feedings or random parties.

I am super excited that The Newsroom is back, although i didn't realized and have to wait until they replay the first 2 episodes before i can watch. Also, loving Mistresses, i watch it at lunch on Tuesdays huddled in my office. We watch Masterchef, Kitchen NIghtmares, and Drop Dead Diva. I am a TV addict.
