Hi there! I was wondering if anyone is using a yoga ball for exercise/balance? If so, do you have recommendations on size and specific exercises that are most helpful? Thanks!
~FTM, over 35, it's a boy! (And still learning how to create a siggy)
I have one at home and I use them at the gym. My OB during my last pregnancy recommended them.
When you get into your later weeks a great exercise is sitting on the ball and rotating your hips. It feels so good on your lower back. I also have been laying on the ball with my back arched and my feet and hands planted on the ground. There are many other exercises I can't think of right now, but I can let you know after I meet with my trainer again.
You know, I'm just going to have to get myself a new one! I've been hearing a lot of talk of exercise balls, and it was great with my first! (it popped, never replaced it). I can't remember what size it was, though. It was comfortable to just sit on it, while watching a movie/TV, talking, etc, not just exercising.
I totally agree with PP. They are wonderful for the later part of pregnancy! I even brought mine to the hospital to help keep my hips 'open.' And after my DD was born we used it daily as a rocker/bouncer for us to sit on while we held her and she found it incredibly soothing! The measurements are posted on the boxes in the store and it will recommend a size based on your height and weight.
