I knew an Anders. He as an exchange student from Spain and stayed with my friend for the school year. I thought it was kind of a cool name

Why did the OP put a period in the name if there isn't one in the proposed name? I'm lost.
So if someone (his parents, for example) googled his name, it would keep the search of "Anders" from showing up here. The period is supposed to break up the word and make it less searchable.
If pronounced Anders, just as it's spelled (and like in Anderson), is this the angelicized pronounciation?
I'm always curious about this kind of thing; I hate butchering names.
Actually you might've had it right to begin with. If I had seen it written down, I would've pronounced ANN-durz, but after hearing it being used on a show, it's AWN-durz.
And the running joke on the show is that no one can ever pronounce it correctly, unfortunately.
I love it though! Would consider using
ETA: Here's a really choppy clip of the show but he says it lol

I freaking LOVE Anders! Of course it's a legit name! Come on.
It's where the surname Anderson comes from.
I have Swedish heritage so Scandinavian names are always dear to me, but I especially like (and would use) this one.
ETA: OP, your daughters are killing me. OMG, they're so cute!
Why thank you!
I like it for a boy, and also know it from Battlestar Gallactica.

Is the D silent originally? I am looking it up, and so far that's sort of the gist I'm getting on the second and third entry on this link.
