Cloth Diapering

Cup Problem *TMI Warning

I have had a Luna cup for a few months now, and I'm still getting used to it. I usually don't break it out until the 3rd day of my cycle so the flow is light, and while it is noticeable, it's not intolerable. This month I decided to start with it on the first day. Despite my best efforts several different times during the day, I could not get it to sit comfortably, so I gave up. Today I tried again to no avail. It just hurts and is uncomfortable! Is it just b/c it's the beginning of the cycle? Or has my uterus suddenly decided to fall out of my body? I've been jogging a little bit lately, but surely that hasn't changed my anatomy so drastically, has it?

Re: Cup Problem *TMI Warning

  • Is it the stem that's irritating you?  I wound up trimming about half of the stem off of my Lunette to make it more comfortable - maybe give that a try?

  • If your flow is light enough it might just be too dry in there.
No, I'm at the beginning of the cycle, so it's definitely not dry. I may try chopping the stem a little. It never bothered me before, but I'll try anything to not have wasted the money.

  • Oh! My uterus is lower my first day or two, and it pushes the cup down. That could cause the stem to poke you.
I wondered if this was it! It feels like the whole daggum thing was lower, like I sat on a Dixie cup and it was stuck b/n my thighs.

  • Is the discomfort internal or external?

I have the Diva cup, and I can't wear it for the first day or so because, like a PP said, your cervix sits lower....wearing the cup for the first day or so gets tricky to get it to sit right, and I have had it bump/ press/ sit against the cervix, which feels like intense menstrual cramping.

  • It was internal discomfort. I think it was the lower cervix deal. Today it isn't bothering me. Thank goodness!

So what do you do the first two days? Mama cloth?

Up until I got pregnant I used regular pads (which I loathe with the fire and burning of a thousand STDs), but since getting pregnant and deciding on cloth for baby, I have decided to get some mama cloth for myself.
