How many doses of Follistim or Menopur?

If I wasn't overwhelmed by IF before, I sure as shizit was when the box from the pharmacy arrived. And I'm an ER nurse! So I'm looking at my instructions and comparing them to what came in the box, and they only sent me enough for 8 doses of follistim and 10 doses of menopur. My instructions say that these meds are used for 10-12 days. Am I going to need to order more? I am scheduled to start meds Saturday and have 1st monitoring appointment on Tuesday. Will my nurse tell me to stop taking these meds at some point before the retrieval? Thank you to all of the experts out there!

I used 10 vials of menopur. Your follistim does might change during your cycle depending on how you are responding. It is overwhelming but you will do great. Good luck.

I got 20 vials of menopur. So far I am using 2 each night. I am using gonal f instead of follistim. I am using 300 units of gonal f each night so far. I am on day 3 of stims.

I have enough follistim for 9 doses (2 days of 225 units and 7 days of 150 units) plus the overfill. I have 3 vials of menopur, but I am only taking 1/2 vial a day so that is 6 days worth (I don't start menopur until my 3rd day of follistim). I might have to order another vial of menopur, but the nurse thinks I will probably have enough follistim, unless I respond poorly and they have to up my dosage.

Each vial of Follistim has extra in them, how big are the cartridges that they sent you? I was using 300iu vials and they each had about 350-400ius in them. Are you using the pen?

Yes, I'm using the pen. And I think my nurse said something about each one having an extra 75 iu. So they sent me 4 cartridges of the 300 iu. So I guess that, in theory, there are 2 additional doses which would give me 10 doses. But what if I am the person who needs the 12 days?

And of course, I emailed my nurse but she already left for the day. Oh well, thank you all for the insight! I will just have to ask her on Monday or Tuesday when I go in for my monitoring appointment!

I needed more meds than what was initially ordered as well. It's hard to tell in the beginning b/c your medication scheduled will probably be adjusted a lot. Just be sure you let them know early enough when you are getting low. My doctor keeps extras of everything on hand so when I was short they just "loaned" me theirs. They called in more for me and had them shipped directly to the doctor's office to replace what I'd "borrowed."

Also, no one told me this until my first monitoring appointment, but they wanted me to bring my meds (not the follistim) with me to the appointments so I could take them immediately if needed.

Thanks for the great ideas ladies! I am thinking that I will ask my nurse if I can order a few extras. That way, if I don't end up needing them again I can always donate them.
