2nd Trimester

Has anyone ever been told the wrong gender at early gender determination?

I went for an ultrasound at 16 weeks and the lady was sure it was a boy. I was kind of doubtful because I couldn't see the scrotum like she said she did. I went back 17 weeks 2 days for my sneak peek and now she is saying she's sure it's a girl! I'm so thankful for a healthy baby, but now I'm wondering.

  • Plenty of people have had this happen. At least two women on my BMB have had surprises at birth. You never truly know until the baby is out of the oven. No point in stressing about it.

    Yep. This.
  • Nothing is 100% until the baby's born.

  • If you have to find out the sex I wouldn't even bother until 20 weeks. Before that there are too many reasons that the tech could guess wrong.
  • The doctors swore up and down that my little cousin was a girl. My aunt and uncle got a huge surprise when a boy popped out.

  • I was told at 16 weeks this time around boy, now i'm wondering?? The tech who has been doing this for 20 years says she is positive. I guess we will see at 20 weeks.

  • One of my best friends was told it was a girl, twice, at 15 and 18 weeks, but by 24 weeks it was definitely a boy. So yes, these things can happen!
