I can't be the only one gaining

Re: I can't be the only one gaining

  • I think I gained 10 lbs at 8 weeks last time, super fast. I ate a lot because it helped with the nausea. I ended up gaining 70 lbs (which is crazy) but it all melted off with nursing, no joke. Now my ms is awful and I lost a few before going on meds and am probably up 3-4 now. Don't even worry it will all come off.

  • I haven't been weighing myself, so I don't know officially how much I've gained. I'm almost 11w and none of my pants fit either. I'm guessing I've gained around 8 lbs. someone asked me if it could be twins, no joke.

I'm not overweight, but I've always had a bit of a tummy. B4 I got pregnant i lost 8 lbs and was feeling pretty good.My husband liked the change and i think thats how i got pregnant. ;-).

I think it's those 8 lbs that came back. I've been so nauseous and if I'm active it turns into vomiting. So, I've been pretty sedentary and I eat whatever I can- including junk. Not good, but I have to eat something.
  • This post sure opened a can of worms! ;) I am definitely gaining mass if not tons of lbs (5 lbs up as of yesterday). Just this morning DH (maybe I should remove the D?) patted my butt, smiled and said "your pants are tighter, is your butt getting bigger?" Um, I thought I was doing just fine, my pants still button! Grr, the blump (to steal this amazing word from another poster) is definitely out loud and proud today. Guess it looks like time to go shopping for a few pieces of maternity clothes and a bella band!
  • Stophoney, looks like we're the only tubby mamas around here, or the only ones who will admit it!

Nope! I'm there with you ladies! I'm 11w2d and I'm up 13lbs :(( and my dr scolded me at my appt. last week. It sucked. I've been watching what I eat too! I guess just not enough. I'm scared ill be one of those mammas that gain way too much in their first pregnancy. But I'm working on it! Tons of veggies and fresh juices this last week and no fried food from the restaurant I work at!!

  • Hi! I am 10 weeks and 2 days and I weighed myself today and was shocked that I gained about 4 lbs- totally thought it was more bc I feels like more. Maybe it just hasn't caught up with the scale yet lol

I love that the OP is concerned about too much gain and 80% of the responses are about weight loss or how little everyone is gaining. OP- I've already gained 8 pounds and my hands and feet are swollen like balloons. With #1 I ate healthy and exercised and still gained 65 pounds (most of it water). It was gone after 3 months while a lot of my friends who barely gained any weight were still struggling to lose at 6 months. The moral of the story: your body will do what it wants to do and, as long as you are eating well and staying active, there's not much you can do about it. Rest assured that I am going to be a tubby Mama right along with you!

:D  Thanks.. I was starting to feel like there were only a few of "us" out there! Here's to being happy, healthy and huge!

  • I completely understand. I gained 11 lbs with my first pregnancy, lost the baby. Then lost 5 lbs ad got pregnant almost immediately so i am still up 6 from the last pregnancy and 6 so far with this one. I am a tubby mama.

  • I also gained a bunch so far and I too thought I was the only one!! So you're not alone, I am really short and I always have a very easy time gaining weight.  I am trying to eat as healthy as possible so I don't gain a ton more but I'm scared to look at the scale.

  • I gain too fast. I'm one of the lucky ones that gets zero nausea/morning sickness and in return, I can eat whatever. At my 10 week appointment I had gained 6 pounds since week 6.

  • I've already gained 6 pounds. With DD I gained a total of 40 by delivery, I didn't exercise at all and I didn't eat very healthy either.
I'm trying my best to be healthier this time- keeping up with exercising as well as eating healthy, but I have a huge appetite and if I don't feed it I feel sick and light headed. I was hoping to not gain more than 5 the first trimester (as the "recommended" range is 0-5)-but fooey on that -I just have to listen to my body  and do the best I can!

  • I have only gained 2 pounds so far, but I am a few weeks behind you. I gained 60 pounds with DS and 46 with DD. I was down to my pre-pregnancy weighty 3 months after both of them were born (with no dieting or exercising). Your body knows what it is doing. Don't stress about gaining some weight.

I'm up 5kg (10lbs I think) in 11 weeks. No use trying to wait until 12 weeks to announce the pregnancy, as everyone has figured it out already! :/
