My FFCis that I'm a freaking hormonal monster today. We've been at my inlaws house for a week and are finally heading home today. I would be super pumped if my daughter hadn't decided that her car seat is the devil and will probably screech and whine for the five hour drive home. Can I please book a plane ticket? I think I should get a special life pass for the next 7 months for growing two humans. Seriously, I'm in a mood.
I'm sorry! Do you have a white noise app on your phone? That sometimes works for me when Riley is a monster on our long car rides. GL!
I don't have one yet but that can be changed. Thank you!

My husband has not gone to his appointment for the big "snip snip"..he keeps putting it off and blaming it on work. I know he wants one more kid, but honestly I dont think I can handle it body wise. It's taken me a year to get back to normal and carrying Frankie was murder. So I pretty much have a lifetime supply of Trojans with spermicide under my bed for just that reason!
Best thing my DH ever did. It's awesome not to have to worry about birth control.
I have a feeling im going to have to trick him into that appointment. Sort of like when you take your dog to the vet and you tell him "lets go to the park, come on good boy, lets go play" and bam your at the vets office and your dog looks at you like he wants to murder you. Im sure that's how this will end. "come on honey lets go to the gun store, who wants a new gun, whos a good boy" then bam the urologists office we will be!!! :-\"
It's starting to scare me that my LO hasn't said any words yet, and I know it shouldn't since all babies develop at their own speeds. But there are so many of y'all whose kids are saying 6-10 words, and I'm starting to fear she's not going to be as intelligent as they are. It's horrible, and I'm sure it's not going to be anything like I fear, but I just can't seem to stop comparing. X_X
Mine only says mama with any consistently. She has said dada and something that sounded like bye but she's not really talking very much at all. My son was speech delayed and he talks a mile a minute now so try not to worry too much. I know that's easier said than done.

Mine says mama, dada, and kick. That's all we've got so far. He's close to walking, but hasn't yet. I don't think I need to worry yet, but yeah it's really hard not to compare. We have good friends with a daughter 4 days younger than Andrew, and she hits milestones left and right.
Just didn't want you to feel alone. ;;)
Thanks ladies! Like I said, I try not to but I'm pretty sure we have exceptional children on J12.

Yesterday my H and I were "those" parents that leave their kid at daycare when not at work.
We took the rest of the week off for a little staycation. Yesterday we took Bertie to daycare, then we went out to a non-kid friendly restaurant and went to a movie. I even told daycare when we dropped her off that we were having a date day. I don't give a shiit if they judge me either. It was amazing. I had mussles frites and and chocolate raspberry tart at an amazing french bistro and went to see mud (and had popcorn - right after I ate lunch!!) Today we're taking Bertie to the lake
Those can be the best days. Period.
I want to be like yall. A alone day sounds amazing!

Make sure he gets a treat after.
That means either way i'll REALLY have to go to the gun store

As a wife of a diabetic, I'm soooo tired of seeing my fb diabetic friends posting the shit they eat. Cakes. Breads. Shit. Carbs convert into sugar. I don't care if you're managing with insulin, sugars and carbs shouldn't be In your vocabulary.

I'm completely with you on this. Particularly since intelligence/academic success is BIG in my family.
Pediatrician said we see where she was at 15months before referring to EI, but I'm really getting nervous. :-(

I'm pretty sure MH is starting to become diabetic and we need to get his blood test done and get him in to the doctor. I know it's going to be WWIII to get the carbs and sweets away from him, but it's what needs to be done. I also side-eye friends with diabetes on what they're not supposed to be eating but do anyways.

I was just going to say something like that. It makes my stomach hurt. People die from diabetes. Its no joke for me, I'm pre-diabetic and I am hard on myself when I eat junk. I just dont understand some people that eat crap anyway and then inject insulin like its no biggie. And I do know people IRL that do that!

Poorly controlled diabetes leads to early complications like heart attacks, kidney failure and blindness. It is really sad when I see people in their 30s and 40s in my cath lab or open heart unit because its a very manageable disease with meds and lifestyle modification
Im hoping that when we move, my kids will be able to see their dad's side of the family more. Even though I cant stand them it will be nice for them to see their cousins and grandparents even if that means they will be seeing their sperm donor. Another perk is quiet times for us while they are visiting.
I was just cleaning up the living room and decided to throw away the second to last helium balloon from Taylor's birthday party since it had started to droop. Before I did, though, I sucked the last of the helium out of it and sang "It's A Small World" by myself in the living room. Afterwards I saw stars so I'm thinking maybe I'm too old to be sucking helium out of balloons.

My kid says a couple of things... mainly "what's this?" and "who's this?"...But yesterday she let her first clear as a bell word fly, and in perfect context.

Here's a few suggestions. You could just tell the person you think they're eating crap, because everyone loves unsolicited medical advice from people without medical degrees. You could block the person. You could unfriend the person. You could ask the person what they're doing with do much bread.
Now, as a diabetic who's been posting in Facebook about the bread I've baked this week and the cake I made last night, I can tell you that there is a neighbor who called me to thank me for the loaf I made her. My other neighbor, who lives with her weirdo son, thanked me for the baguette I brought her. And then ask my family how much if the cake I had last night. None. There is one baguette in the freezer and the other loaf I made we ate for toast and sandwiches this week.
I am making two more loaves right now, and they smell delicious. One will be for sandwiches and dinner tonight (which is spaghetti- mine made with broccoli slaw do that I can enjoy the bread) and the other will go in the freezer for a rainy day.
I fully admit that in Sunday, when I made the first batch, I ate too much of it. It was good! Can anyone tell me who has g over indulged in something before?
Unless she actually called you out on this I don't see why you would think she was talking about you. I see no reason to justify what you do in your home.
I just want to respond to all of you worried about speech issues. I am in no way an expert but I definitely wouldn't be worrying at ALL yet!!
I give a super huge side eye to any Dr. who "requires" more than a couple words at this point. Lily says nothing. We get the random Mama here and there. But she vocalizes allllll over the place and this kid can walk/run/climb like nobody's business. Her gross motor skills are amazeballs. So.. she's working on the physical and the verbal will catch up later. Saw the Dr. yesterday and he wasn't remotely concerned.
My son was the same way. He got a wee bit of a late start but then it all clicked into place and now you can't shut him up to save your life. He has a stellar vocabulary.
If you or your Dr. are truly worried because you aren't getting any sounds at all, comprehension, etc... talk about it. Get help if you need it. But really really I promise in a few years you will NEVER know which kid was verbal early vs. late.
Next week he/she could have a word explosion and you will wonder what changed overnight.
Not trying to preach... I just feel bad for all of you stressing over this!! :x

I know I shouldn't worry, I think it's just the comparing thing. And like you said, she can walk, run, dance wonderfully so she's working on the physical first.

1. Today my dog was licking my nephew when they came to visit and accidentally scratched him lightly on his arm. My nephew huffed, rolled his eyes, came over to me and showed me his arm. I ran my finger over it, it mostly disappeared without even red marks. All I could think was he was acting like a big weenie, and I had to force myself to ask what he wanted me to do with it. Are all kids this pathetic anymore?
2. I think guns are sexy... If MH had any interest in them I'm pretty sure we'd be having sexy time more than we are, but he refuses to even learn to shoot. Oh well, his loss.

Then maybe twinkies and oreos .shouldn't be part of your vocabulary. Now, before I get jumped on, I'm not saying it to be mean. As someone who has a sweet tooth the size of Canada, I can't even mention the word cookie without fiending for one. In order to teach Kendall healthy eating habits and keep her healthy, I need not buy junk like that or eat it myself because it sends the wrong impression. I'm not saying you're sending the wrong impression to your LO or to your h, I just imagine it would be harder to manage it when someone in the same household eats lots of sweets. I tried to say that as nicely as possible, cover my bases and avoid a conflict.

How did I know it'd be you to answer me? You seem to care a lot about my weight. I'm very happy with how I look. I think thats even more important to teach Lilah. Be happy with who you are. So because you have a poor body image it'd be nice if you'd stop trying to knock me down a peg when I'm happy and confident. Despite what you guys may think and what I joke around here and fb, we don't do a lot of sweets because of Lilah. I did eat two Oreos yesterday at work but I can stop. Its not an ibsessiob. I don't eat three loaves of bread in a 24hr period.
I'm so glad next week is the last week of this crazy child being in my home! Within 5 minutes of her mom leaning she just starts screaming. If Emma's not in the room she's ok. But as soon as Emma walks in she screams! All I can do is put her in the car and drive. I. Don't. Get. Paid. Enough.
Also I am no photographer but I don't think people who have no formal training should be allowed to have a business. I have a friend who went to college for it, did her time, takes amazing pics and still has to work at a daycare full time to pay the bills bc of amateurs doing below par work. I think there should be some sort of accreditation or licensing process
(That's more of a UO but eh w/e)
I agree it sucks that the market is saturated with bad amateur photographers. However, I don't think formal training is necessary in order to be a good photographer and run a business. My husband is a self-taught photographer. He went to school for engineering, but had always had an interest in photography. His hobby later turned into a side business. He just read a ton of books, online forums, joined photography organizations, watched workshops on DVD's, invested in good equipment and practiced, practiced, practiced. I know a ton of other great photographers who haven't had any formal training either. I do feel for your friend though. It is difficult to be a full time photographer these days.
I agree 100%. It's so hard to be a photographer when everyone and their momma can just go out and buy the next best DSLR and put it on auto and take some pictures with no clue as how to really use it, edit them or print them. If you want to be a photographer do your time doing studio work and actually get some hands on experience. There is something to be said for having to suffer doing studio work with pimply face teenagers and families with 10 kids running around lol!!!!
Pinkangelmoon* not directed twoards your husband at all. At least he practiced, which is the most important thing! Hes super talented anyway, I love the stuff you post of your kids!!!!
This! I am not saying you need a degree, but I do think you need some sort of training and a few years of experience though before you can start telling people you are a "professional" hence why I said there should be some type of accreditation or licensing (which seeing your husbands pics he would qualify for .)
FWIW lots of people call themselves a "professional" to start portfolio building. So even though they have named their "business" and booking "clients" doesn't mean they are even profiting from it yet. I guess I just took this a little personally because I'm portfolio building now but decided to brand myself now to make a name for myself. Not saying its your fault I took it personally, I'm just sensitive
I haven't really left the house in 5 days. First I was sick, emery is cutting molars, and now my period started. I have been so off this week. I hate being here but I can't bring myself to get out and do stuff. Im ready for tomorrow to come so we can get out and go to the fair with my sister.

I'm sorry but this is excatly what I mean. You just can't take a few pictures and call yourself professional. That's what has given this profession a bad rap. Get some experience and a decent portfolio before you sell yourself. Learn about posing, lighting, how to use your camera and not edit within a inch of its life. Also hire a printing service otherwise your "professional" pics are going to look anything but, and they arent cheap.
I take offense to it solely because it hurts my business when people think they can run to Joe smoe and get pictures done for next to nothing. Or they say so and so does x amount of picturea for $50 why are you charging me triple that? Oh because my equipment is expensive my experience is also pricey. You want second rate pics go to someone else.
I don't pretend to be a baker just because I can mix a cake once or twice. I don't consider myself a counselor because my mom is fuccking insane, kwim?
I'm sure you'll hate me for it, whatever its the way I feel. I spent years doing this so when someone gets a fancy camera and tries to call themselves professional it pissses me off.

You just have a bad attitude towards me in general, this isn't the first time you've had words with me.
And you have no idea if I've had training or not. I've been taking pictures for 7 years. I know about light, posing, editing and my camera. It's almost like you are afraid of competition. I'm not going to apologize just because photography has become a race to the bottom. It's the way the business is working. All you can do it focus on providing your customer base with the best value.

Your like 20, im sure you've been doing this since you were 13. Yeah i usually keep my mouth shut you dont even live in my state..competition? Really. Honey its ok. I just told you how I feel about people buying camera and calling themselves photographers in an already over pouplated market. If you dont like it I really dont give a rats asss. ETA: i've never had words with you, i had a opinion about your husband but never with you.
reinedecajun You're entitled to you're opinions, but find someone else to call a poser. And we all know what assuming does...I'm not 20, thanks for making me feel young though

Oh thanks, I'm flattered you felt the need to find me. I never said I've been charging people for 7 years, lets get those facts straight. I said I've had experience. Does that mean I need to be charging people for my time to be considered experience? I don't think anyone would agree that's true. I'm sure 100% of your income has come from your photography business and you've devoted 100% of your time to your business, oh wait...
Sigh holy shiit girl I get it. Your great blah blah blah...and yes I do hold myself up pretty high its called self worth.
Who's missing the point now? That's not at all what I said. You brought up that I held a W-2 position and implied that it negated my 7 years of photography experience. You incorrectly inferred that my statement meant that I was a full time paid professional photographer the last 7 years - I merely stated I have 7 years experience.

As the consumer, I would accept 7 years of experience to mean directly working in the field and not just owning a camera and taking your own pictures. Simply owning a camera is not enough IMO.
That's taking classes and study alongs. That's not having a camera sit on the shelf collecting dust.
Re: REAL FC
I don't have one yet but that can be changed. Thank you!

Thanks ladies! Like I said, I try not to but I'm pretty sure we have exceptional children on J12.

That sounds like the most awesome day ever! Hope you enjoy the rest of your staycation.

I'm completely with you on this. Particularly since intelligence/academic success is BIG in my family.
Pediatrician said we see where she was at 15months before referring to EI, but I'm really getting nervous. :-(

I asked my brother when my nephew started talking and he said 18 months... I don't know if I can wait that long.

Poorly controlled diabetes leads to early complications like heart attacks, kidney failure and blindness. It is really sad when I see people in their 30s and 40s in my cath lab or open heart unit because its a very manageable disease with meds and lifestyle modification
What just happened in my diaper?!

I guess I have a couple more confessions.

Pinkangelmoon* not directed twoards your husband at all. At least he practiced, which is the most important thing! Hes super talented anyway, I love the stuff you post of your kids!!!!
This! I am not saying you need a degree, but I do think you need some sort of training and a few years of experience though before you can start telling people you are a "professional" hence why I said there should be some type of accreditation or licensing (which seeing your husbands pics he would qualify for
FWIW lots of people call themselves a "professional" to start portfolio building. So even though they have named their "business" and booking "clients" doesn't mean they are even profiting from it yet. I guess I just took this a little personally because I'm portfolio building now but decided to brand myself now to make a name for myself. Not saying its your fault I took it personally, I'm just sensitive
