  • My kids like to play hospital and take my appendix out.  Every night this week after dinner I suggest we play it because it means that i get to lay on the floor and do nothing.   Another great game is to lay on the couch and close my eyes.  They have to find an object in the house and give it to me.  I have to guess what it is by touch.  Again all I really do is lay on the couch.

I might have to borrow those games. Does it work with a 16 month old?

  • That's rape @RondackHiker. I feel very terrible for that woman. I hope some day she'll see the light and get out of that abuse.
I tried to tell her that and she blew me off.

I'm letting it bother me way too much, on a personal level. I think it's because my nine year anniversary of my own rape was this week, but her explaining their sex life and justifying why it's okay has me feeling more panicky than I thought possible.

I wish I could make her see how wrong what's happening is.

Since the new format took hold there just seems to be a different feel to the place. IDK what the feel is, exactly, but the vibe feels different...not just that our screens look different. If I could put my finger on it, I could probably fit in better, but alas, I'm still working on it.
Well, we're all getting along instead of fighting and snapping at each other all the time.

I figured that was a good thing, tho.

    Huh.

  • I have one.

Wednesday night H worked late so I parked myself on the couch with some ice cream.  My dog hopped up on my lap like she usually does and we settled in to catch up on some TV.

I somehow accidentally dropped a spoonfull of ice cream on my pup's fur on her back-- sort of where her tail is.  I tried to clean it up as best as I could but I was being really lazy.  I mostly just blotted her down with napkins.

Yesterday, H called me from home telling me he had to dunk pup in the bath because she had some "weird sticky stuff in her fur that she kept chomping on."  Oops.

  • I don't monitor anything my kid watches on youtube. I just type in Fireman Sam and let him roll. Sometimes he ends up in the really weird part of youtube, but so far, no porn.

I have not read all 5 pages yet, but I let dd do this too. usually we end up with Japanese or eastern European cartoons. Nothing too scary yet...

I think some people like to hold onto their role as a victim, either for attention or security. Perhaps this is what is going on with this woman. She isn't posting for change, just for someone to say, oh, that is so terrible, you poor woman.

In any event, as nice as it is that you want to help her, @RondackHiker, you shouldn't let it be at your own expense.

Whatever @cinemagoddess. I never once said it was a bad thing or that everyone wasn't getting along nicely or whatever. I very specifically said several times that I just felt uncomfortable with how the change took place so quickly and that I haven't had time to adjust or figure out my new place here. It is what it is and I'm sorry for writing it. Okay?

It's moving really fast, so I get it. Just jump in, hit a love tit or two, and stick around.

Teach me your ways.  This is all kinds of brilliant.
We've been doing this kind of thing a lot lately.. DS has a doctor and a vet kit, and I'll lay on the couch/bathroom floor and pretend to be a human or animal patient while he fixes me. I had the ultimate win last week when I was apparently supposed to pretend to be the table. I wasn't to move or make noise, just lay still.

I'll have to try the guessing game as well. The other things that work well are "use mommy as a road for your hot wheels", "build a big tower on mommy's back", and "pretend mommy is a sleeping baby and play quietly next to her so you don't wake her up".

  • @CTGirl30

I hated being on ML more than I hate working. I want to quit my job, as long as I don't have to watch DDs all day long. Otherwise, I will gladly stay at work. Those late night feedings, days between showers, newborn screaming fits where you can't figure out what the fuck they want??? You can keep them.

I just kept telling myself, let me get through today, let me get through today. If you can't go somewhere in your car, can you at least get outside for a walk? Sometimes, just the sun on your face can change things.

I agree on this, I almost welcomed going back to work just to catch my breath. My saying was "This too shall pass".

Just getting out helped with perspective, remembering there is a world out there and you're not the only one who has faced this.

My feelings are hurt and they probably shouldn't be. SIL wanted everyone(her, her Dh, other SIL, her Dh, BIL and his DW) to go out tonight for her birthday. Me and Dh don't usually have a sitter and we can't go. Their solution? Have me and Dh babysit ALL of their kids. Yep. I'll have 6 kids here all night and all day tomorrow.

This is making me see red for you.  I'd be so pissed.  Then again, although I love them, babysitting overnight for my nephews and niece is hell though.  My niece, who's 1, has severe separation anxiety and screams ear-piercing screams for about two hours or so after her mother leaves, and my middle nephew, who's 3, is up crying/talking, literally ALL NIGHT.  No one gets any sleep and everyone is cranky the next day.  We don't take them overnight that often, lol.

I admit to this too, only I type in Cookie monster. She ended up on an instructional nail art video. She loves them! She'll watch the lady do rainbow nails, stripes, you name it. I think I'll attempt a cookie monster manicure for her third birthday.

Ditto.  TB and I have grown apart in the last few months, but the last two days have totally rekindled our relationship.  My feelings for TB right now are straight out of 2010-11.

@darbie914 I don't like that mid-season break either. Just when things reach fever pitch, they leave us on edge for 2-3 months. They need to make, like, 30 episodes per season.

I'm also not sure if I like when they do the mid-season break.  There's a part of me that just wants a straight season but then I sort of like that they drag it out over a few months.
At first I hated the mid season break, but then I loved it. It's like getting two season premiers and two season finales for one.
Well, you do have a good point there. It's like the excitement starts all over again.

I am nervous about the new showrunner, Scott Gimple, but I hope he rocks our faces off properly.

  • I guess my only FFFC is that, while I love the fact that we can now swear properly here on TB, I am now constantly nervous that it's going to set off some alarms in my employer's IT department. I hate bumping from my phone, so I am willing to take the risk here, I suppose.

Older DS has read them all.  He loves them.  And he generally doesn't enjoy reading.

  • OK, here's another confession.

I gave birth over three years ago and I still have stop whatever I'm doing and tightly cross my legs before sneezing to avoid soaking myself in pee.  And I can't even do the lowest impact cardio moves without wearing a panty liner.  I don't think this is normal but I'm embarrassed to bring it up to my doctor.  And yes, I do my kegels.

  • Confession...

I will publicly bash almost all movie remakes but I am secretly excited for a lot of them.  Hollywood does a great job of producing impressive teaser trailers that pique my interest even if I know the movie is going to suck.

There are exceptions to this...Total Recall, Robocop, and a just announced remake of the Butterfly Effect (it's not even 10 years old...what the fuck Hollywood?!)
