Midwife recomendations in the Healthpartners system

I am about 6 weeks along and have already had my first prenatal appt.  The midwife was very nice but for my lifestlye (tirathlete, runner, backpacker) she wasn't very knowledgable on the issues I need answers.  Also, she was very soft spoken and quiet which doesn't jive super great with my own personality.  Does anyone have a midwife in the healthpartners system that they LOVED?  I'm open to all suggestions, they don;t have to neccesarily be active, outdoorsy people.

Thanks!

Hannah

  • Congratulations!  I'm also a runner and a backpacker and have found that I've been able to stay pretty active :-)

I don't have any experience in the Healthpartners system but I'm really loving the midwives we've seen with the Healtheast system.  They've been beyond great in encouraging me to stay active and helping me to know my limits.

  • My sister has used Dr. Maria Peterson at Woodbury HP twice and was very happy with her.  I've seen her a time and two for annual OB appointments and she was always very good.

  • I have HealthPartners and went/go to North Metro Midwives. Kathrine Simon delivered two of my three and she is incredible!! She was on maternity leave herself with my first I couldn't have asked for a better experience/better care!
  • I used Karen Mcmenimen through the Roseville North Suburban Health Partners clinic and love her! She was really great the entire pregnancy and always answered my questions and concerns thoroughly and thoughtfully. I delivered at regions and also enjoyed the hospital a lot. I will for sure use the same care next go around!
  • I used the midwives at Fairview Riverside and have nothing but AMAZING things to say about them. I had a regular OB until 30 weeks and then was sent over to them (long story) and we were incredibly happy with the care we received and our experience with UMMC. It was a practice group so we get to see all 7 or so midwives prior to delivery. Then it is just a random draw who is on when you go into labor.

  • I used Michelle Stegman, CNM with the Health Partners Bloomington. She was great. I am also a nurse and I LOVED her. Couldn't have asked for a better first time birth experience. Even when the care got more complicated (hyper emesis, kidney stones, low amnitotic fluid, need to be induced) she was with us every step of the way. I highly reccomend her.

  • I go to the Health Partners Clinic For Women and see Edith Ziegler, CNM. I love her. She is upbeat and fun, very personable. Always gives me good perspective and takes her time. I definitely feel at ease with her.  I also love that when I check or get blood drawn  in the receptionist or the lab tech usually make a comment like, "Oh we love Eddy!" or "Oh, you get to see Eddy, isn't she the best?" That says a lot to me about her character. I must say though, she does have a bit of a peculiar voice. Think like Julia Childs. My husband finds it hilarious. Keep in mind though that H. Partners uses a rotating mid-wife team for deliveries so you wont necessarily see her during the actual birth.

Here is her bio on their website, but her picture appears old. https://www.healthpartners.com/locator/practitioner/detail.do?personnelId=3096

  • The Midwives at Fairview Women's Specialist Clinic are awesome! I just delivered with them last month and would definitely reccomend them. Some of my favorites are: Ann Forester-Page, Lisa Bowman, and Carrie Neerland (my fav and a triathlete herself). The practice is very hands-off and lets you guide your experience. I would stay away from Deb Reinert, she was not supportive or helpful! For what its worth, my mom is a midwife in the Twin Cities and this is the practice she and her colleagues said is the best.

If you are on the Eastside, I would go with Karen McMenimen! She is one of my favorite people, but we lived too far away from Regions to consider her.

Yes! I would second this reco . It's an all women's group of midwives, (deliver at fairview riverside) and they are super!! I haven't met Neerland yet, but the others PP reco'd are tops on my list so far too. I'm trying to meet them all as I go through my appts. Good luck!
