Sophie the giraffe?

Ok so I know Sophie the Giraffe has been discussed before but I never paid much attention because my LOs weren't teething. But now one of my guys is teething BAD. We have some teething rings but he hates them. So in my quest to target to find something he would like I saw Sophie... For 35?! Does this giraffe dispense baby ecstasy to make my LO happy and pain free? What's the deal with the giraffe? I have heard great things but why so much and what makes it so great? I bought Coco the Monkey which is a target thing and much cheaper. Sophie is on amazon for 21 so if its honestly that good I would buy it there I am just wondering about it.

I heard some of the ones on Amazon are fakes. Not sure if that is true or not. My son just started teething and loves Sophie. I am not sure why, but, he does. I would never have bought the giraffe but, it was given to us as a gift!

DD LOVES Sophie. We just bought a new one because the old one had a spot that was getting worn and it worried me. DD also loves giraffes in general for some reason so that might factor into it a bit.

Somehow we have ended up with three Sophies through various gifts across both boys. And I am totally glad we have them all, because both boys have been seriously CRAZY over them! And it's nice to have extras in case one goes rogue

Anyone else worried about it being a latex toy? I'm allergic and afraid to give an all latex toy to my kids. I thought repeated exposure can cause an allergy? Maybe I made that up?

Another vote for Sophie! We didn't have this with DS1, but I splurged and got it from amazon for $16 during a baby sale around Christmas. DS2 loves this thing, especially now that he can hold it himself really well. We literally don't leave home without it. I often use his paci clip (he's not into paci's) to hold it so it doesn't fall out of the carseat.

I only paid $20 for mine at the Women's Health Center nearby. I definitely wouldn't pay $35. That said, my LO loves his Sophie. I have no idea why, but it is definitely worth the $20.

We love Sophie here! She was a gift, but I'd probably replace it if I had to. DD gnaws on all different parts of it.

It's rubber, not latex.

DD1 was eh, ok with Sophie. The cutest was when she was learning to babble and I would squeak Sophie at her and she would babble in response. We got Sophie as a gift. The only thing DD1 wanted to chew when she was teething was wood, though. No teething rings, no amber necklaces or violet roots (big here in Germany for teething), and certainly no Sophie. She chewed on the side of her playpen, on our fake wood table edge, and on her crib.

DD2 likes Sophie more than DD1 did, that's for sure. Of course, now DD1 is into giraffes and tries to take her away from DD1. Go figure.

DS literally mauls Sophie. He bends her in half, practically sticks her whole head in his mouth and rubs her legs so hard across his gums that it's audible. I actually feel sorry for her when DS is playing with her!

DD loves Sophie! DH left it at daycare last Thurs and another parent accidentally took it home with them so we've been working to get hers back for a few days! I wasn't going to shell out the money again because it is expensive but is worth it! :>
