Oh no, I have nine now. Most have two middle names and all are called by their first and middle names on an everyday basis so some of my points above are in reference to middle/ second names as well.nbsp;This prompted me to count: I have 23 baby names first and middles. nbsp;
So in regular convesation you'd say something like "Sydney Claire Elisabeth and Michael William Leon it is time to set the table" Woah that is a lot. Do they refer to each other by their first and middle names? Have you run out of names you like yet?
I'd love for you to share how your triplet names play off of each other!
I find that people either love or hate Archer. The dislikes come from people not liking 1) occupation names (Spencer, Cooper, Taylor, etc) and 2) violent names (Hunter, Gunnar).
DS1 is Maack. People generally like "Mack" but get all agitated by the spelling. That's how my maiden name is spelled. It's Dutch and the Dutch love two a's. They also love Aruba so who am I to argue? His middle name is Stanley which is terrible but it's DH's beloved deceased grandfather's name.
DS2 is Benjamin Hays. Hays is my mom's maiden which is ironically spelled "wrong" too. I wanted Hays for his first name but DH didn't want two boys with misspelled surnames as first names.
Someone once said that DS2 sounds presidential and DS1 sounds like a gas station attendant. I have to admit I loled.

DS is William Ed.mond III, nn Liam. Liam is way popular, but given that I didn't actually get to choose his name, I'm using it because I genuinely love it (whereas I like William okay, but wouldn't have picked bit as a fn myself). I feel like Edmond is spelled wrong and it drives me crazy, but it's not as if I can change that with it being a passed down name!
I've always loved Caroline Mae for a girl. I hate that Caroline is getting really popular. The board seems to think Mae is a filler mn, but it was my great grandma's name and I just love how sweet and southern Caroline Mae sounds.
My DD is Alanna. Always mispronounced because it is neither A-lawn-a or A-laine-a. I don't know any feedback.
DS has a legitimately spelled name that happens to be the name of an ex president. It is a family name, and I don't care that it fits into trendy naming categories. Well, I care that people might see it as trendy, but I used it anyway. Its also really close to Landon, a popular name right now.
DD1 is Kate. She ended up with the unintentional nickname Katie. It's just fits her. I know many think that Kate should be short for Katherine or Katie is outdated.
DD2 is Lilly overdone and the spelling Lily is preferred Charlotte classic but getting popular. Then we have the whole issue of having her go by her middle name...,.,
People who do not like her name generally don't care for "old lady" names. Some people also don't like the spelling we chose (after DH's grandmother). Also, some people don't like pre-planned nicknames. We named her Elinor knowing we could call her Nora.
I've recently noticed that Nora is on a lot of people's "dislike" list as well, though most people can't pinpoint what they don't like about it.
IRL we get tons of unsolicited compliments on her name, and most important, we love her name. I momentarily cringe any time someone on here lists her name (either Elinor or Nora) as one they hate, but at the end of the day, I don't really care.
My son is James. My late, beloved dad was James and since I was a little girl, I knew I would give a son this name.
If "James" had skyrocketed to a number 1 popularity spot (realizing it is, regardless, the most often used male name over the course of recorded history) I would never have cared, never have changed my mind.
I don't care for Jim or Jimmy; if he wants to use those for some reason once he's older, that's fine... I will always call him James; that's what I prefer.
DD, due in Dec., will be named Audrey. Quickly gaining popularity (40 or 41 per SS in 2012; 74 in our state), it's still a classic name that I've liked for a long time and won't tire of.
Audrey also sounds god with our harsh, consonant-filled last name.
Don't go stealing my name ladies! I am TTC #1 and I mentioned my favorite girl's name to DH - Allegra - and he immediately nixed it because it is the brand name of his allergy medicine. I have loved this name since I was in high school (long before the medicine), because I was always very musical, and this is a musical term. Damn allergies, ruining my name choice!
How long ago were you in high school?? I knew a girl when I was in college with a daughter named Allegra, and all I could think of was the medicine. That was 13 or 14 years ago.
It's a made up name from an Astrid Lindgren book. It's never going to be spelled or pronounced right in North America (Scandinavians mostly know of the book, and the name's made it to their top 100 lists).
Her dad picked it when she was about a day old, I just gave up and told him to choose a name. I figure it's cute, and given her dad's obvious accent, saying it's a Swedish name is explanation enough. I have no clue how we'll name any younger siblings (anyone have a favourite name from a children's book?)
I'll bite. Ds is Logan Raynor. It shouts trendy XMen character. We picked it prior to the movie coming out, and 16 years ago it wasn't as easy to see what was going to be popular that year, at least as quickly (Beyond Jennifer and Jason anyone? ). His name is both family names of dh. His middle name was actually a family last name put it the middle name spot by a many times removed great grandmother who was the only one left to have children, so she passed it down through her son. So all the boys since have the same middle name. Teagan Eleri - probably trendy Irish name, at least the first. Have to come clean, she was named for a Dr Who character, we chose to use the Irish spelling over the Welsh. She was almost Aisling, but my cousin got to it first. Kinda glad, Aisling gets butchered a lot. Eleri is just a gp Welsh name. Eirian Aurora. Disney princess and wth? First is from a book I read, dh happened to like it. Aurora is just a go name that has nothing to do with Disney, despite what the liitle monkey thinks. Keira Aine. Hmmm, popular, trendy, Keira Knightly. Again, just what we liked. Aine is Gaelic for Anne, to honor the Anne's in our family. Less plain, but most ppeople don't recognise it. Usually they say oh. Seren Carys. Pp nailed it with Carys.Seren a lot of people call her Sarah at first. Because she snuck inthere, we tried to find her a name with meaning. Serendipity was too dippity. Seren doesn't get tons of reactions in town, there is another. We moved here after we named her so its a coincidence.
Everett got good feed back on the board and from most people I knew when I was pregnant. My uncle said he went to school with one and was it coming back into fashion.
Piper gets a lot of negativity on this board. Most people say they can't see it on an adult, which I find interesting because I've never seen it on a child.
DD is Makaia Kimberleigh-Rose - Everyone should have a hayday here lol
NN's Kai, Kaia, Mak and Macky
its youneek, it's a dreaded Mck/Mak name, middle name is the leigh spelling which is generally disliked AND its hyphenated! and Rose is one of the biggest filler names around. It probably doesn't age well and she's doomed to be jobless.
All that being said I love DD's name and most everyone has said they think its pretty, whether they do or not I do not care. Kimberleigh is after her grandmother. and I love Rose.
Payton William- I had no hand in naming him- both names are overused and Peyton/Payton I here more on females.

Maxwell Everett ... Maxwell I normally see good things about or just that some people dislike it as a formal name option for Max, which also seems well-liked except that it's a dog name or it's too popular. Everett seems well-liked too and I actually can't think of any negative things I've seen about it.

DS Callan Gregory. Before people comment when I say his name they ask "how do you spell that?" Like the spelling changes whether they like the name or not. Also its a last name as a first name thing. Some people say its feminine. He is named after a character in a TV show...NCIS LA. Middle name critiques: assumed family name when we say no we get the "old man name" look BC Gregory hasn't resurged yet.
We love it and I am so in love with him, my brain gets all mushy when I don't even care
DD is Carys. People don't "get" it (like 99% of the time there's an "I don't get it" thread started it's about Carys. I'm not sure what there is to really "get" about a name other than the spelling and pronunciation - and I know it's difficult to pronounce if you aren't familiar with it. So the pronunciation/spelling is definitely the the most maligned part of her name, I guess.
I imagine that people unfamiliar with it think it's a made up, trendy Y name, but no one has actually said that to me before, so it could just be in my head.
I love Carys. I have 3 friends with Carys-s (although one spelled Keris, that's the first one I met, so that looks "normal" to me, even though I know it's not).
I thought it was a Korean name because I had *never* heard of it, then all-of a sudden I met 3 people, all Korean, who had used that name! Stuck my foot in my mouth with that one - luckily everyone involved just laughed....
It is based off of the more traditional Evangeline but my DH didn't like the "lean" at the end ad perferred the sound of "Lynn". Many people didn't love it on this board but when people hear it they usually repeat it a few times and 9/10 times find they really like it. And I say 9 out of 10 because its possible someone lied about liking it. It is different but it fits my DD.
DD's name is Cortana. Pretty much unheard of unless you are familiar with the source. One person thought it was not cutesy enough for a child. Another flat out said she would never remember it so doesn't even try. I imagine others on here would say its way too unique and out there.
But her name means a lot to us. I also love that it has a medieval source, and we love how it sounds. We get a lot of compliments on it. My greatest fear was everyone thinking Halo as soon as they heard it IRL, but we have yet to run into a single person who has made the connection.
As nerdy as it's going to make me sound... That is the connection I automatically made, and I still think it's a beautiful name.
oh this is fun, its nice to see some regs "own" it!
DD is Presley. A decidedly unisex surname. I honestly didn't like the name at all when I was pregnant and someone suggested it. I wanted something sweet, classic and undoubtedly feminine - we planned on her being Helena and i spent hours thinking about the pronunciation! When she was born, Presley was just her name. Some people, music loving hipsters, ADORE her name. The older generation side eyes it regularly. OWN IT
DD is Caroline Rose The board says Caroline is "popular", "overdone" and everyone is "over it". Yet, I've never met it heard of another Caroline IRL. Rose is "overdone", not original, and a "filler name". It happens to be both Caroline's maternal and paternal great grandmother's name though so we chose it for the significance.
Our top choices for kids names (we start TTC next spring) are Maya Josephine for a girl and Julian Addaire (sp?) for a boy.
No one has said much about Maya Josephine. We LOVE Maya and Josephine is a family name that I also just adore.
Julian though, gets a few eyebrows. People think it's too feminine, but we just love it. Girl names were so easy for us, but boy names took is FOREVER. Once we found one we loved, we stuck with it and screw everyone else. Addaire is the last name of a family friend of DHs who never had children and means a lot to him, and I think it sounds great. I saw someone else here is using it as a first name and I like it!
Our front runner name for a little girl is Parker Jane. I think we all what the consensus of boy names on girls tends to be with this board. Main feedback, "That is a boy's name." I still love it on a little girl, and I have for a long time. It continues to be a top contender in our house. I read all the other super feminine names and none of them stick out to me.
Nathaniel James (DS#1). We get a lot of, "Sooooo, are you REALLY going to call him by that looooong name?? When are you going to shorten it?" We also get mispronunciations. People think his name is Daniel. Little kids often think his name is something like Nuh-Daniel, McDaniel, Nith-Daniel. My nephew told me the other day that Nathaniel is a "baby name" and it would be "hilarious" if he went by it as an adult. Oh and the first medical bill we for from his birth? Spelled his name Bathaniel.
So yeah I get the impression folks think it's too much name and perhaps a bit nerdy. Also a lot of folks incorrectly refer to it as "one of those Old Testament names" (implying it sounds heavy?). But actually Nathaniel is from the New Testament. The more popular Nathan is the Old Testament version.
Oscar. It is a grumpy character on Sesame Street and is opening up teasing for Oscar Myer weinner jokes. It is a bad name for a kid and won't really fit well on a baby.
Hanna. Spelling is not as common and will be tricky for her. Boring. Plain. Weak sounding.
Abigail. Similar thoughts have come up for this name. Boring. Plain. Abby isn't a very adult nn. Abigail is a weird full name to go by. Of course Abby kadabi brings us full circle back to Sesame Street. Haha
DH would have named our DS Oscar if I would have let him. I totally think of Oscar the Grouch, but he loves it. Apparently it's a front runner for LO #2, except that it's not...

Both Oscar and Otis were picks dh liked! Weird... I must have done something to the HTML bc my response looks like it's part of another response!
My son's name is Abram. About 90% of the time it gets really good reviews. A few people tend to ask if his full name is Abraham or they throw in a random H when spelling it.
Had he been a girl his name would have been Iris Joanna.
our DS is Bentley. people on here hate it! its a "made up" first name, its a last name, its a dog name, and its a car not a name. we love it. and it fits our little Benny Boy perfectly. our second boy name on the list (chosen by DH) is Cooper. so i guess we are cheesin it up over here with the car names for boys
if DS was a girl he would have been Lilia. not quite sure what people on here think, but people i had told said it was going to be a mouthful. w/e we loved it!
DS is Kendrick. I get mixed reviews. Family and friends love it.Even if they didn't I would have named him that anyway. If I ever have a girl her name will be Ava Marilyn.
Both girls go by nicknames, people say it's confusing. Eleanor, Norah and Penelope are increasingly turning up on dislike lists. People really want to call her penny, not Nellie. Meh. My children, proper names and I love them. Plus, dd1 is a perfectly sassy Norah, and would make a terrible Ella/elly.
DD is Johanna, pronounced Joe Hannah. We get good reactions from it, but it is mispronounced a lot. And I am pretty sure our pronunciation is made up, but we love the sound of the name so don't care.
Ten day old DS is Dashel. Without getting into it too much... we hemmed and hawed and researched and argued about using Dashel and Dashiell spelling. What we went with, people on here would say it's made up. But no one in real life says that. We love the sound and are happy we went with spelling we did. We get a confused look when we first say his name but then usually people warm up to it within minutes.
Hadley gets a bad rap on this board as a boys name and last name. However it has a strong family history for us as a female first name *and* we love it! IRL, we get very positive FB but maybe its all crap!
Paige also gets a bad reputation on this board as boring or an occupational name. Again, this didn't bother us.
Both MN are highly traditional (but not usual filler MN) and therefore only praised on this board.
Um, if you get to name your daughter Allegra, I will die of jealousy. It is my all time favorite name. My H thinks that same way yours does, though!
::sits with Helena:: I love Allegra. I don't even care about the allergy medicine reference!
I am going to keep pushing for this one, I don't care about the allergy med reference either. I just won't pick a middle name that begins with D
I love Allegra! It was on my list but I thought it would be too hard for my Asian relatives to pronounce. I would have been naming after Allegra Kent, probably my favorite ballet dancer.
We don't have kids yet, but we have had names picked out for a long time.
Boy: Jon-Paul Leonard
Jon is my DH's brother that has passed away, I don't like Jon by itself because I think it's too plain, so we paired it with DH's other brother's name. Leonard is a family name on my side: 2 grandfathers, 1 great-grandfather, and my brother. We would used Jon-Paul and not a nn.
Criticism: hyphans are dumb, the name is too long and complicated, Leonard is old sounding and just plain awful.
Girl: Genevieve Estelle
I have always loved Genevieve and wouldn't budge on the name, so I'm glad DH lies it. Estelle was DH's grandmother's name.
Criticism: Genevieve is too much of a name for a baby and Estelle is an od persons name.
Re: The point perhaps not made yesterday
