Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Staying in Hotels

I'm sure this question has been answered a thousand times already, so I'm sorry to beat a dead horse.  We are considering taking a short vacation next month but have never stayed in a hotel with my 18 month old.  How do you put baby down for bed (at an early hour) and not disturb her but still do SOMETHING before it is your bedtime?

Re: Staying in Hotels

  • It's tough for us with 2.  Honestly, we don't get much time at night to ourselves because once everyone is actually asleep, DH and I are too tired to do much.

I agree w/hanging out on the balcony.  Otherwise we drink in bed :)

Suites are nice if you can get them.

  • We travel quite a bit with DD who is 13 months. Suites are great if you can get them but typically we just aim for a big bathroom and set up her pp in there if you ask for an accessible room the bthrm is often bigger.

  • If you set them up in the bathroom, do you roll them out later or just don't use the bathroom until morning?  LoL

MOTY right here put the PNP in the bathroom for DD.  We were staying 1 night with both kids in a single hotel room and I didn't want DS to wake DD up overnight.  It worked out great actually.  We were just quiet if we needed to use the restroom and didn't turn the light on.  DD is a good sleeper so it was fine.

  • I guess we are pretty lucky DS isn't a light sleeper. We just put him down in the crib and go on about our evening.

We usually brush our teeth and get ready for bed before we put her down and are just quiet when we use the bathroom. We have a light sleeper though.
