I'm a runner, but I'm also a pregnant runner. Right now I'm 20 weeks and have continued to stay active 6 days a week. The problem is, is that I'm still gaining weight really rapidly. I've already gained 20 pounds (not water weight, I'm not puffy at all) and have been trying not to gain more than the recommended 25-30 pounds. Looks like I'm destined to not meet that goal. How much weight did you all gain during a physically active pregnancy? Seems like something's off to me.
Re: weight gain
I was that way. I think I gained close to 10 lbs in the first tri, then it slowed down, especially by the third. In all I gained 26 lbs (but gave birth a month early). I was very active and a vegan the whole time. Most of the weight came off in the first two weeks, and slowly continuing to come off (couple more pounds to go!).
I gained 10 in the first trimester and 5 from week 1620 and none since. For a total of 15. I was 150 pre pregnancy but am 5'9 and and now 165. I don't think being super active has anything to do with how our bodies deal with pregnancies. We are all different. Hopefully we stay in a healthy weight range! Good luck!
This pregnancy, I have ran throughout and still doing up to 4 miles 3 days per week but looks like I'm gaining a little less at 28lbs thus far.
You will hit growth spurts with more gain then go weeks where you don't gain. I didn't gain any weight the last 6 weeks of my 1st pregnancy so don't worry. Stay active...eat healthy and everything will be fine.
Good job on being active! I had to stop running at 9 weeks because of sciatica, and I hate the laziness I feel as a result. I still walk and swim, but I miss my running!
I'm just shy of 29 weeks and have gained 10 lbs, but that's below normal since I started at a healthy weight. Everyone gains a little differently. I'd talk to your doctor and see their input. Also, you could look at following a GD diet if you want to slow your weight gain.
