Is it too early to drop to one nap? LO is seriously starting to fight her 2nd nap. We go about 3 hours between naps and she should have gone down at 3:15 and it's now 4:45 and she is STILL playing in her crib. Not fussing or anything. This has been going on for over a week. Now if she DOES fall asleep, she's not tired for bedtime until 9:30. Is she too young for one nap? Her first nap is 1 and 1/2 hours and she normally sleeps 1112 hours at night. What's your advice s12? Is this just a weird phase or what??
Re: Dropping to 1 Nap?
My DD is down to 1 nap almost every day. She's happy and that 1 nap is usually 3 hours long on good days. I don't worry about it because every child is different and she's STTN a full 11 or 12 hours.
G is still on two. 2 hours after wake up. Second nap is 2 to 2 and a half hours after 1st nap. I know every kid is different but I am pretty sure this is early for dropping a nap. I would keep at it.
I think I'm going to tell DC provider to get him to nap from 10 to 1ish and give him lunch after his nap.
AJ still takes three naps a day. I have not been able to lose that last nap, no matter what I do. Our day usually goes something like this:
7:30ish wake up
10:00-11:30 nap
2:00-3:30 nap
5:30-6:00 nap
9:00 bedtime
Sometimes his naps are longer, sometimes shorter. I have tried cutting out the third nap, and putting bedtime earlier, but then he wakes up half an hour later raring to go. So, for now we go with it. I am slowly trying to push his morning and afternoon naps back, so that we can get away without the last nap. Lately though he wants to go back to sleep 1 1/2 hours after wake up. My kid likes his sleep :-)
I think it's a little early to drop a nap, but all kids are different and Happy Baby Healthy Sleep Habits say by 12 mo. 17% of kids have dropped down to one nap...so maybe you're kid is ready.
I'd give it a spin for a few days. If your LO is a total wreck at bedtime, then maybe adjust some things around.
I feel like we are in an "awkward" phase as well where Kate still really needs two naps a day, but she can easily go 4 hours being awake and be just fine (depending on the day and activity). I've started pushing that first nap to be a little earlier so she gets a decent span of time in between naps 1 and 2 without going to close to bedtime...aka, up by 4pm at the latest.
