Twins?

So my inlaws have been looking at our last ultrasound and are trying to convince us it's twins. Not sure how serious they are or if they are just being their wonderful selvessaid with much sarcasm. So my question is to those of you who know you are having twins, when did you find out? Cause I think they would have discovered that by now.

If there were twins visable on your ultrasound pics, your doctor would have seen it and told you.

Your doctor would have been able to tell at the first ultrasound and would have informed you if you were actually having twins.

I would think the doctor or ultrasound tech would have mentioned twins if they saw them.

My dad is a twin, and my grandma didn't find out she was having two until delivery. Their heartbeats were in sync, so they never heard two. But this was in 1961, and women didn't get ultrasounds. I would imagine most women now find out no later than the 20w anatomy scan, and probably sooner, for the most part.

That's what I thought but my sil who is the pregnancy expert since she got knocked up by some random guy she barely knew, said I should get them to do an ultrasound from a different angle.

I'm pretty sure the tech looked at your uterus from multiple angles.

I found out my first ultra sound I was 12wks! My babies are in different sacs and they send the heart beats!

OMG I would just die if I found out at birth I was having twins. I cannot imagine the complete and utter shock of being handed two babies and having no idea until that moment.

And that was her second set! My grandma had 9 kids, including two sets of twins. Large, Catholic families are very prevalent in our area.

At my 7-8 weeks u/s, the doctor knew I was pregnant with twins, one didn't make it.

I found out I was having twins at the 5 week ultrasound. There were two separate sacks visible .

Yea i found out it could be twins at 5 weeks scan ... Then was very clear too at 7 week scan and unmissable at 12weeks as they are so big now on screen lol ... Although i have heard stories of a hidden twin but very rare! .... Thou my boss is adamant theres a hidden triplet in my belly!! Eeek could u imagine that!!?! Lol .... Xx

I know someone who had a hidden twin and the twin wasn't seen until the second ultrasound. It's so extremely rare though. If there is something on your ultrasound, your doctor would have seen it. I think it's safe to say, it's one.

OP, you would likely know by now if you are due in December. I agree your in-laws are probably taking this a bit too far.

ETA: just noticed this was from last month and brought up by the PP who is mad at us...UGH.
