We are expecting our fourth child by the end of December or early January. DH and I have come up with a list of five boy and girls names. We would like to hear your honest opinions on them. Any other suggestions? Which names should be taken out?

Boys

  1. Callum NN Cal
  2. Isaac (my favorite)
  3. Ezekiel (family name) NN Zeke
  4. Silas (DH's favorite)
  5. Walter (family name) NN Walt

 

Girls

  1. Audrey (family name)
  2. Eloise NN Ella
  3. Evangeline (family name) NN Angel/Eva/Evie/Eve
  4. Loretta NN Retta/Etta/ Lori
  5. Odette NN Dottie

    Isaac and Silas are my favorite boy names. Silas might win by a hair.

    I love Eloise, but the NN Ella is pretty popular.  The rest of your girl names are NMS.

    2. Isaac (my favorite) Very classic
    3. Ezekiel (family name) NN Zeke Not a fan
    4. Silas (DH's favorite) I like it, but always think of the albino dude from Da Vinci Code
    5. Walter (family name) NN Walt Not a fan

    1. Audrey (family name) Love
    2. Eloise NN Ella Love
    3. Evangeline (family name) NN Angel/Eva/Evie/Eve I like Evangeline, nn Evie or Eve
    4. Loretta NN Retta/Etta/ Lori No
    5. Odette NN Dottie Please don't call her Dottie!

    1. Callum NN Cal - This is my least favorite of your names; I prefer Calvin for NN Cal. I think I just don't like the "um" sound.
    2. Isaac (my favorite) - Great name! It was on my long list.
    3. Ezekiel (family name) NN Zeke - meh.
    4. Silas (DH's favorite) - Love! I also LOVE Simon, it was my #1 but DH vetoed. 
    5. Walter (family name) NN Walt - I don't love it, but it was on my long list because I have a soft spot for NN Wally. Maybe a good MN, since it's a family name?

     

    Girls

    1. Audrey (family name) - Love!
    2. Eloise NN Ella - Love! But I'd be wary of NN Weezy.
    3. Evangeline (family name) NN Angel/Eva/Evie/Eve - It's NMS, but I do love Eva/Evie
    4. Loretta NN Retta/Etta/ Lori - Dislike. Sounds like an old lady, in a bad way. Etta is my favorite of the NNs, but still not a big fan.
    5. Odette NN Dottie -  See Loretta. Only this is worse. And I'm not a fan of Dottie.

    This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! 
    DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
    131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
    We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.

    1. Callum NN Cal - It's ok.  I prefer Calvin with NN Cal though
    2. Isaac (my favorite) - Like this.  It was on my list for a while as well.
    3. Ezekiel (family name) NN Zeke - Love and love Zeke. It was our second choice for this LO but in the end a little too unusual for me to feel comfortable using.  (We went with Zachary)
    4. Silas (DH's favorite) - Like this a lot as well.
    5. Walter (family name) NN Walt - Do not like. Reminds me of an old man.

    2. Eloise NN Ella - Like Eloise a lot, not crazy about NN Ella for it
    3. Evangeline (family name) NN Angel/Eva/Evie/Eve - Love it.  My favorite on your list.

    5. Odette NN Dottie - Cute but not something I'd use.

    2. Eloise NN Ella - Eloise doesn't need a nickname. Use it on its own and I love it :)
    3. Evangeline (family name) NN Angel/Eva/Evie/Eve - I like all the possible nicknames. I like it.
    4. Loretta NN Retta/Etta/ Lori - don't like any of the nn. nms
    5. Odette NN Dottie - I love Dot, but it's the name of my step GMA.

    Darn, I kind of wish I knew your other children's names for a sibset.  My initial favorites are Isaac and Audrey.  GL!

    Wow, this is a solid list of names! Great job!

    I think just on gut reaction, my favorites are Silas and Evangeline, but you couldn't go wrong with any of them.

    If you choose Odette, I think I like Etta better as the NN than Dottie, FWIW.

    Good luck with your decision.
