STTN?

Any other LOs STILL not sleeping through the night?  C did it for about 3 weeks in May, but then she got sick and was teething and now we're back to at least one (and often two) wake-ups at night.  I never feed her at night, so I just rock her for a few minutes and then put her back in her crib.  I guess I should probably just let her cry a few times, but I'm worried she's still teething.  Plus, now she cries "Mama" when she wakes up, so it'd be even harder for me to let her cry.  :(  Am I the only one?

Re: STTN?

  • DS still usually wakes up once a night, maybe twice.  And I still nurse him.  I am sure I could bust this habit with some effort and a few bad nights, but since it would mean less sleep for DH and he's already exhausted from work most of the time, I haven't gone through with it yet.  DD was the same way.  They have always been easy kids otherwise, just not with the sleep thing.

  • Good to know.  Thanks.  I'm sorry you're going through that as well, though.

  • My DS is a late November baby and he still wakes up sometimes between 2-4am. Usually, I go in and rock him for about 5 minutes and he's back asleep. He probably STTN about 75% of the time.
  • Ds sttn in.bed with me but still doesn't in his own bed. Up around 11 or 12 then i just let him.sleep with mme. I just want sleep and it works out ok. Someday he will just get it i hope!!
  • I might be able to count on one hand the number of times DS has STTN. When I was stressed to DH about it, he reminded me that I am also a fitful sleeper and DS comes by it honestly. He currently wakes 1-3 times a night.

I've gone back and forth about how to handle it. At the moment, he and I (not to mention DH) sleep better when I nurse him for a few seconds/minutes and put him back down. Sometimes he doesn't want to nurse, he just wants a cuddle or a bit of water.

I would LOVE to have him STTN by the time his little brother or sister is born in February, but I won't hold my breath.

  • DS has been strange lately when it comes to STTN...  He doesn't fully wake up, but he cries/moans "as if" he was awake (loud enough to hear/wake the rest of us up)...  He's totally OUT though, not really wet/poopy (i.e. if it is you can't tell), not having a nightmare, etc., just moaning/fussing in his sleep - loudly...  Most of the time I can just massage his back and he'll wake up just enough to go back to sleep and he'll be fine until the next round...  It's a tough one because DD needs her beauty sleep but yet, he's SO loud about it!
