What's it feel like for baby to kick your bladder?

I think my baby is kicking my bladder. I'll get a split second urge to pee and what feels like a twitch and its gone instantly. Is he kicking my bladder?

I believe what you are experiencing is lightening crotch. Maybe.

    This.

    What is that?

Yeah, exactly.  This is a thing?  Because it is a thing with an amazing name.  Like, a name my girlfriends and I would teasingly give each other in college.  Amazing.

  • I think it's possible. I have the same sensations and at my ultrasound last week the tech told me the baby clearly liked to hang out low down. Sometimes I feel her roll her around right on top of my bladder and I definitely have to pee!

  • Here's my experience.

Baby kicking the bladder feels like out of nowhere there is pressure on your bladder like you really, really have to pee.  Depending if it was just a little foot jab it might quickly go away, when the baby gets bigger and rests its head on your bladder it lasts longer.  I usually just go empty my bladder when he starts kicking it because it's just so uncomfortable and I never know how long he's going to keep it up.

Lightening Crotch, I only had in my 2nd pregnancy, and it literally feels like a split second shot of lightening to your crotch.  But not like the outside of your crotch, like up in there haha.  For me it was later in pregnancy and when it got more freqent seemed to coincide with my cervix thinning and dilating (I walked around at 5cm from weeks 39-40).  it had nothing to do with my bladder.

Does this mean I'm dilating? I'm only 20 wks!

She was just describing 'lightening crotch'; she was not inferring that you are dilating.

No no, occasional lightning crotch is normal.   Especially when walking/exercising.  But I was just saying when it became much more frequent it coincided with my dilating/effacing.  For ex. it only happened occasionally and at 36 & 37 weeks I wasn't really dilated or effaced, but it really picked up the last 2 weeks and it just so happened I also progressed during that time, could have been totally unrelated, but it sure felt like something was happening.
