Girl names: Final countdown!

We are down to Nora or Hazel for a first name. For a middle name, I like a short and sweet onesyllable name. I like Nora Mae, Nora Jane, Nora Rose, etc. I like the same middle names paired with Hazel. I'm torn, though, because my best friend gave her daughter my first name as a middle and I'd love to do the same in return but I can't quite fall in love with Hazel Marie or Nora Marie. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

    I like Hazel but prefer Nora. Hazel Marie sounds better than Nora Marie IMO but I don't get too hung up on whether the names flow well. I prefer a cool middle name or one with meaning.

    I love Hazel and actually think Hazel Marie flows nicely. Could you use your friends middle name instead?

    Hazel definitely. I really don't like Nora for some reason. Hazel is great though and I think hazel Marie flows very nicely.

    This is hard for me-- I don't really like ether.

    I think Nora sounds prettier though, and I think Nora Marie sounds fine.

    What about a version of Marie?

    they're both very nice names. i do prefer hazel, though. i think it's gorgeous.

    I like both but prefer Nora.

    I really like Nora Jane.

    As flattered as you are and as nice a gesture as it was, I don't think you should feel obligated to use your friend's middle name.

    What's your friends middle name? Is that an option over Marie?

    I prefer Nora to Hazel, but Hazel Marie flows quite nicely.

    I like both Nora and Hazel! Have you thought about a double middle name to honor your friend? I'm not a huge fan of too many names but in this situation I think it would work.

    If you go with one MN, I prefer Hazel Marie or Nora Rose. If you do two MNs I would prefer Nora Rose Marie or Nora Mae Marie.

     Just my thoughts on it.

    In general, I think I prefer the name Nora, but I do think Hazel Marie sounds really pretty.

    Thanks all! My friend's middle name is Ellen, which I like but not paired with either first name choice. The responses are equally divided between Nora and Hazel. That's how it's been with friends, family and the other name board I post on. I think my husband likes Marie as a middle name over the others, so we'll probably go with it. He has two middle names, so I've been mulling over Nora Mae Marie or Hazel Mae Marie. I also like Nora Rose Marie or Hazel Rose Marie but I don't know if I'm complicating things!!!
