What paperwork in MI to file your own contempt case?

Any of you Michigan ladies know if you can file a contempt case on your own?

If so what the form/motion is called.

Looking online nothing seems to "fit", most things say Change of Custody, Enforce Child Support, etc.

Thanks.

  • I am just a lurker but in most states the contempt paperwork is called a show cause. You would take the show cause out on the other party.

  • I don't know if it varies county to county, but have you been sending letters of Complaint to the FOC each time your X (or whoever it is) has been in contempt? I know my county won't even hear a case if you don't have an established history of contempt.

Thank you for the info. I'll see what I can check for him online. He's in Wayne Co.

  • Good luck to your friend in Wayne Co..a nightmare to deal with sometimes.

  • Does his court house have free legal aid?

In Grand Rapids courthouse they have free legal aid. They will not go to court for you or be your lawyer, but they will tell you what papers you need and supply them (sometimes for cost of paper, sometimes free) and they can tell you how things apply to your situation.

I know there are such things as a blank motion document you can fill out. I was given one once. You fill in what the motion is for and what not.
