I just witnessed the play by play from induction to birth of a girls niece on FB. She updated her dilation progress each time her sister was checked. Informed us all when she was 10 cm, then when she was pushing.... and still pushing. Then once baby was born she announced the birth time/weight/length.
I would seriously murder a person if they did that to me!
Who would want their dilation progress announced to hundreds of people on FB? I would be beyond embarrassed and angry!
ETA: She just added pictures of the fresh slimy newborn.
Re: FB: Birth Play By Play
LOL... "Fresh slimy newborn" makes me laugh!!!
I was actually just thinking about this earlier, how furious I would be if people posted pictures of me or LO when he's here on FB before we've even discharged from the hospital.
In fact when we told ILs about being pregnant, my MIL was "dying" because she had to wait four days to announce anything on FB because I hadn't told my family yet.
I think a FB disclaimer is a good idea with peoples addiction to the stupid website.
Agreed! We had to skip my cousin's wedding in December, because my MIL threatened to tell her entire family if we missed a dinner and waited until Christmas. Because, clearly, it was her news to tell. Ugh. I just thank God daily she deleted her facebook...
Fresh right out the vagina put on her chest slimy newborn photo!
Me too!! I joked with DH that we have to have a Social Media Birth Plan! No info goes on Facebook or twitter or whatever until I give the okay. Which will probably be when we get home from the hospital, although DH would be anxious to post on FB from the hospital. I just want to give family and close friends a chance to hear from us first before it goes on the Web.
That sucks.
I personally think some things should not be on fb for the world to see and that is one of them. I'm also not a fan of u/s pics all over fb.
totally NOT COOL.
I would be livid!

I'm sure MIL will post something about her grandchild being here with a picture or something. DH is an only child, so this is her first. I understand she's excited, but I'm not thrilled about the idea of my child being plastered on FB.
Ewww. This might be an instance where I would prefer vague-booking.
It's one thing when you update about yourself (which that is still TMI), but to have someone else doing it is just.....weird. I would be pissed if a family member was giving a play by play of me too!
When I go in to actually have this LO, there will be no updates. I don't want anyone knowing we are actually having the baby until he is already here. And I honestly thought about banning fb pics and stuff like that at least until we are home so I don't have the wierd random drop ins in the hospital while we are trying to bond and I'm trying to learn to breastfeed.
Not that anyone on my FB would do that but I'm still planning on taking my FB wall down soon. DH and I want to be the ones to "annouce" the birth. I hate seeing when people (especially outsiders) "annouce" other people's birth on Facebook by congratulating them before word is really out.
Hahahahaha. Eeewwwwww.
Yeah, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
NO KIDDING!! There better not be any mention or update of any of my private parts on Facebook!
Eww. And who would want to know all those details too? I could MAYBE see notifying family but all of your FB friends, that's weird.
Do you even know the new mommy?
I went to high school with her.
