Yikes. There are few things I judge parents for. I usually feel Meh about choices other parents make for their children. But soda in a bottle/sippy I will never wrap my head around.
I cannot come up with a reason I would consider doing this! Maybe if... No. What about... Nope.

To be fair, I don't watch for it or anything. I happen to see being poured in to the cup as I walked in to get myself some awesome Mexican fast food from this local place I crave daily lately!
My cousin walked into my grandfather's funeral with a 2 litre bottle of Mountain Dew that she filled her baby's bottle with throughout the day. Baby was maybe just about a year. AND she had jeans on.
Huh. I've never seen this before; and I don't get it! I mean, I did give DS a sippy with gatorade this weekend (flame awaaaaay) because we were at an outside event and hot and sweaty, but I can't imagine soda. Just...why?

DH still likes to bring it up!

No i didn't delete, don't really have time for that. I just think some of you have too much time on your hands judging stuff like this. They are not your kids so who cares. I really don't. It's not like I give her a whole can. It's more like half a sippy cup.
I do have a say over what she eats and it may not be all organic but we make smart choices. I think if you limit a kid to much they will go all out once they get a taste of sweets. Moderation is key and that's what our household is all about. Just Sayin.
I don't see the big deal with this. nbsp;On occasion I give DD a little bit of coke in her sippy as a treat. nbsp;I've done it with gatorade to.
Of course you don't see the big deal. You are clearly an idiot.
Congratulations. You made it onto my post it.
I'm sorry, who are you to call me an idiot....really classy. If I remember correctly weren't you complaining about your weight the other day....I don't think you should be the one to judge.

I think nanda was out of line to call you an idiot, I also think it's totally uncalled for to bring up someone's weight, my weight and how I feed my child has nothing to do with each other... and Nanda just had a baby, so there's that.
If you know this board at all you knew it was a dumb move (if you care what people think) to admit you give your 2 year old Coke and sweet tea. Own it and move on.
OK, I didn't see any of this. She shouldn't have called you an idiot then...but I've got a suggestion what she could call you now.

didn't you get flamed for giving your toddler soda and juice mixed or was it soda and water mixed. I can't remember. I can't be the only one that thinks giving it as a treat once in a great while isn't a big deal.
Hmm making fun of people's weight and giving your toddler coke [and saying its because you know your kid better, which makes so very little sense.]
I stand by my previous statement.
Babies and toddlers getting pop in bottles and sippy cups drives me crazy and is definitely something I totally side eye and will judge you for. My SS' cousin is 3 wks younger than DS and their grandma will give her dr pepper in her sippy and that is just the start of the list of horrible food/drink choices they make.

My situation was kinda sorta different, my LO doesn't like to drink at all, would be totally happy with no liquids so I have to try really hard to get her to drink, especially since it's so hot now. I mixed a cup of juice with about 8 parts juice and 2 parts sprite... she drank it all, only liquid she'd had all day, I'd do it again. Nobody flamed me, but mentioned there had to be better solutions... which was why I was writing the post. I since got carbonated water and it's dramatically increased her intake.
I'm a huge fan of carbonated water. They have them in flavors as well....DD thinks the carbonated water is pop so I don't tell her any differently

I drink regular Coke. I would never, ever allow any oft children to have a sip. It's horrible for me, not just the sugar...but the other crap in it. Putting it in a sippy??? Please don't.
This is me, except I drink diet coke. Which is just as bad, if not worse, than regular coke for many reasons

Yeah, I can count on one hand how many times DD has had any Coke and she's 9.

You are a total and complete idiot, now are you going to block me too? A treat for a two year old is juice not soda or tea. Also bringing up another posters weight is just mean.

But she did block me...because I never saw this.
Anyway, I don't take away all sweets. My child has had Coke and Sprite...she's 9, not 2.

Yeah seriously. There is an insanely huge difference between those two ages. Mine is 7 and she's had soda once. Once. I let her have some at a birthday party. And FTR, I'm HUGE on moderation. I'm not ashamed to admit my kid eats happy meals. But I simply can't get behind the soda thing. There's no need for it. It's not a sweet treat like a cookie, or a brownie.. (which I agree- everything in moderation). It's empty calories of a drink and insane amount of sugars. Terrible for a 2 year olds teeth, also. Not to mention caffeine. And it's addicting. No 2 year old needs to start off with addicting things before they can barely talk.
Re: Just saw my first...
I've seen this too many times to count. It's definitely not an urban legend around here.

Trash-tastic.
I've seen it more than I care to admit.
DH still likes to bring it up!
yup, this. I have seen more little kids with big gulps at the park than I could count.
I will admit to doing it twice when DS1 was small..maybe 2.5? I gave him watered down Sprite in his sippy when he had an upset tummy.
whats wrong with jeans?
Your two year old drinks Coke? You're kidding right?
What the what?!?
like once a month! sorry is she supposed to drink nothing but water. get over it
Hey, it's your kid do what you want. I know better. BTW, there is a whole host of things between water and Coke. Don't act stupid.
Did Vlawhatever just delete her two comments in this thread? They're gone?
Or did she block me so I can read them? LOL So confused! I'm not even the one who called her an idiot.
I'm not stupid, thanks though. she does drink milk obviously and sometimes ice tea....more flames? I think I know better about my kid than you do.

I've got a friend that does this, with diet coke. I think she's put iced coffee in there too.
If you want to give your kid a treat, try a cookie.

I stand by mine as well. I'm done.
Soda. For a 2yo. I just cannot understand this choice. I... Just CAN'T.
