Birth Stories

Charlotte's Story

I'm mobile bumping so ignore typos please and sorry if its not that detailed.

Due to high BP I was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday July 9th...so 8 in the morning I arrived just to play the waiting game until around 10:00 AM because they needed to wait for meds from the pharmacy...really! Cervidil started at 10:30 AM. My hubs and I were so excited it felt like time was standing still... and them the Pitocin started at around 5:30 PM. Wow that gets labor going real fast and real hard.

I went from 0 to 4 centimeters by 8:30 PM and the pain was unbearable. I was very anti epidural but caved and I don't regret it. I eventually got to sleep a little and never got so numb that I couldn't feel my legs which is what I was afraid of.

By 11 PM I was 8 centimeters and a little after midnight I was 10 and ready to push! The epi wore off by then so I really felt everything which I was happy about. About 45 mins of pushing and there she was!

At 1:18AM on July 10th Charlotte Marie was born 8lbs 10 oz and 21.5 inches long! I got a second degree tear but it's not too painful to be honest. For being induced and it being my first baby I was shocked at how smoothly it all went. She is such a good baby and as a FTM who was scared of labor...all I can say is that I'd do this 10 times over if I could. BFing has been difficult but now we're getting how to latch and it feels like such an accomplishment. Here's our little love bug! I hope all the new mommas are doing well and enjoying this exciting time!!!

  • What a doll! You enjoy every minute of her.
  • She is a really pretty newborn. I've seen a lot of newborns (and every baby is beautiful, of course) but they usually come out looking blotchy and wrinkly!
