November 2013 Moms

Which middle name?

Ava Elizabeth or Ava Noelle? I already posted on the Baby Names board a few weeks ago. Someone commented that Ava Noelle sounds too "Christmasey", like a Christmas song or Christmas store. I guess since I am due at the end of November, it is Christmas season. Do you think Noelle would sound funny if I use Ava for a first name?

Re: Which middle name?

  • I like both, but my preference is Noelle

  • I too am more for Noelle. :D
  • I like Elizabeth better.

Yep. I'm also not much for Christmas names.

    Agree, Elizabeth is beautiful.
  • I prefer Noelle. Something about the back to back "uh" sound in Ava Elizabeth throws me off.
  • I think Ava Noelle is pretty and I honestly didn't associate it with Christmas until you mentioned it.

I was trying to figure out what it was I didn't like about the sound of Ava Elizabeth, and this is it exactly. Ava Noelle, though it does seem a bit Christmas-y, sounds beautiful together.

I think Ava Noelle is really pretty together. That is saying a lot to because I love the name Elizabeth.
  • I remembered that Reese Witherspoon and Heather Locklear have daughters named Ava.  I looked online, and found out that they both used the MN Elizabeth for their daughters.  I think I am leaning towards Noelle now.  Ava is already such a common name, that maybe it would be better to use a more unique middle name.

Elizabeth all the way! P.s. I'm biased because it is my middle name and I love it, Autumn Elizabeth! Lol

    I like Noelle!

It was on my secret list. I'm honestly starting to think 2 middle names
  • I personally like Ava Noelle.  Like a PP said, I didn't even think Christmas when I first looked at the names until I continued reading...  And I also agree with another PP about the "uh" sound preceding the Elizabeth, doesn't seem to flow as smooth.  But in reality, they both are nice.  My pick, however, would be Noelle.  :)
  • I really like Noelle! I think it is a beautiful name! Also, I didn't associate it with Christmas until you said so, but Christmas is my favorite holiday so that wouldn't bother me!! :
  • Love Noelle!

  • Also love noelle!! It's beautiful and unique. Plus, I'm not into the repeating "uh" s with Elizabeth.

    Congrats!!!!
  • Do the names have special meaning to you or honor a family member or friend? Or did you just pick them because they sound nice? I would go with whatever has the most meaning.

  • I agree with PPs about the double vowels in Ava Elizabeth, but I do like it...I just like Ava Noelle better. Yeah, it's Christmasey, but it's beautiful, and it fits with the time around your due date, so why not!?
