Gender revealing party

I think this idea is suuuuper cute... and I think I want to steal it, or come up with something similar.

When she and her DH went in for the u/s to find out the gender of their baby.. they had the nurse write down if it were a boy or girl and put it inside of a sealed envelope... they then took the envelope to a cake store and explained how they wanted the cake made. At the party they cut into the cake, totally clueless as to what color would be inside. Blue inside would obviously represent them having a boy and pink would be for a girl.. They found blue!

I love this idea! So cool!!

They seem to becoming more and more popular.

I think it'd be a fun thing to do with close family. Not sure I'd want to do a big party.

In my circle, the cake cutting gender reveal has become really popular.

It is also common to have someone pink or blue balloons in a box and wrap it. Then, the parents to be open it to find out the gender from the balloon colors inside. There are lots of cute gender reveal ideas online.

I like the way a friend of mine did it... They had the tech write it on a paper and put it in the envelope, and went back to the place where he proposed to her and opened it. I thought it was sweet and romantic.

I decorate cakes and I've gotten a lot of orders recently for gender reveal cakes. I've done themes like football player or cheerleader, tutu or tie, mustache or hair bow, etc. Most recently, I did cupcakes for a lowkey party. I piped blue icing into the middles to indicate boy and topped them with pink and blue swirled icing.

I think gender reveal parties are a super fun concept, but they're not something I'd want to do for myself. I hate having all the attention on me, so throwing a party like that is NMS. Even my own baby showers made me uncomfortable!

We did something similar. But MH and I found out at the anatomy scan, but we ordered cupcakes with pink filling inside. Then we went to my MIL and FILs, then my SILs, then my brothers...we hung out with each while they ate their cupcake to find out the sex. It was a lot of fun but I don't think we'll do it again. Probably do things a little more low key.

Ever since I heard about this I have wanted to do it. We basically have 4 sets of parents because everyone got divorced. And no matter how they feel about each other all in a room together, I want to be able to do the normal little things with our parents all together. And I want cake.
My friend announced on Facebook by showing a picture of her niece, who had blue frosting all over her face when they did this.

I think we want to do this this time around with our family. Since DD's 1st birthday will be around the time we find out I don't want people to feel obligated to come to two parties since it'll be closer to Thanksgiving and the holidays

I know this is crazy popular, but it seems a little self-involved to have a big party for this. We did a cake with our immediate families on Mother's Day when we were getting together anyway--and as the grandparents they definitely had a vested interest. No doubt it was special to find out with them. But I can't imagine inviting a bunch of friends over because the sex of my baby is that important to them. Meh...whatevs. At least there's cake.

My friend is having one this weekend. It's NMS but I'm not bothered by it. She loves having people over for cookouts and we all have kids around the same age so it's really just an opportunity for us to all get together and find out what she's having. She has no idea and is going to have her 3 year old open a box filled with balloons. Again, just best friends and close family, no gifts.

And from DD, I wanted them to point out the bits to me so I believed them, so I think we will find out in person. Maybe bring pink or blue cake to my parents' when we tell them cuz, yah, cake is good.

Ppl do this all the time. 2 SILs and a friend did a gender reveal party in the past year. Ppl also do it with helium balloons in a box, or confetti in a single balloon. My one SIL did small boxes of colored jelly beans. The options are endless!
