Tape

When did you remove the sterie not sure on spelling strips or did you wait until your two week PP appointment and let the doctor take them off?

Re: Tape

  • My midwife took mine off at my first appointment. I think I was ten days pp.

  • My midwife took mine off at the 1 week pp visit.  She asked if I wanted her to do it or if I wanted to at home.  I took her up on the offer.

My appointment isn't until 4 weeks pp. I called my Dr. office and he told me I could remove them at 2 weeks pp by myself. I just peeled them off in the shower.

  • My Dr told me not to touch them even if they started to peel off to leave them alone. I get them off next Tuesday at my appointment. They are driving me crazy.

  • The nurse told me that they'd fall off on their own, but they didn't.  I took them off around 10 days PP.

  • That's for the replies, i can't remember what i did with my first csection. My 2 week PP is tomorrow, i took a couple pieces off already because they were loose and getting caught on my underwear. Hopefully my doc will remove the others tomorrow.

  • Someone has to catch me up, 10 years ago they used the tape on my but it was one large piece that went across the entire incision?  I had to painfully remove it in the shower in the hospital day 4 after my C-section.  I have been worried about this happening again.  By reading the posts it sounds like its in strips now??

    Can someone please explain?

My last c-section had been 9 years ago, so things were a little different for me this time too. For me I still had the huge white thing over my incision, I had to peel it off in the shower the day after my c-section with all three of mine. but what op is referring to is more the size of scotch tape. how it worked for me was I had to go to my Dr's office three days after my c-section to have my staples removed, once they did that they put the tape on. I have not counted how many I have, but I would guess its like 7-10 pieces about 3in long each going vertically across my incision.

13 years ago I had staples and they just took those out before I went home from the hospital....Guess this is going to be another question for the OB!  My last experience was just the tape, no staples...it was horrible!

  • that does sound pretty bad. was there even any gauze or anything between your incision and the tape? I would have been screaming if I had to peel the tape right off my incision. the tape I had on for the first 24 hours after all three of my c-sections went across my entire stomach and was like 6-7in wide. but there was a bandage of sorts made out of gauze between my incision and the tape, so while not fun to pull off it was not the worst thing ever either. that's pretty crazy you had no staples. the tape I still currently is really starting to annoy me, but I have really sensitive skin. I am still pretty sore, even more so touch so I am worried the tape is going to hurt coming off on Tuesday.
