Still in the TTC phase (and it seems like I will be forever..), but today I met an adult guy named Duke.

On one hand I am like "Duke is such an awesome name! I might want to namy my future son that!", but then I also think "It totally sounds like a dog's name".

What do you think?

Not only does it sound like a dog's name to me, but I am also not a fan of title names. It's almost like naming your son "Doctor" or "Mister."

I don't hate it but I agree about it being a "title" more than a name, IMO.

I have a friend named Duke. It is nms at all, but it fits him well.

I have a friend named Duke as well (actually a nn). He is Albanian and his full name is Dukajin, so I always assumed it was a cultural thing.

I think of it as a verb ie "duke it out" or an unfortunate noun ie "took a duke". I'm so sorry. dg
