I'm currently 40w2d. Since I'm overdue, they had me for for a biophysical profile ultrasound yesterday at the hospital. The lady did the scan and said that fluid levels looked good, he was practicing breathing (I could see it, SO cool!) and that his reflexes were normal. They estimated his weight at 7lb. 8oz. which sounded great to me. Then she let me go.
So I get a call this afternoon from my regular doctor, saying they're worried because the measurements on his head were in the less than fifth percentile. I've had a bunch of ultrasounds for another reason (which ended up not being a problem after all), and he had been in the 40-50% range all along. But now this dramatic drop in comparative head size is worrying.
The doctor did say that it could just be that he's so low in my pelvis that shadowing caused a bad picture/measurement, but the doc who read the ultrasound recommended immediate induction or a re-scan. I opted for a re-scan and go tomorrow afternoon.
Has anyone else had something similar? I'm trying so hard not to freak out, and just pray it was a shadow and that my little man is perfect in there. But some little part of me can't help but be terrified that at this late stage, his head just isn't growing correctly. I am WAY too hormonal for this right now. Whimper.
UPDATE: Thanks for all the love, ladies! I had the scan this afternoon, and they said his head is perfectly normal. It was indeed just a shadow and that he's down so far in my pelvis that they couldn't get a good picture. Whew! Now for him to just show up........
Re: UPDATED: Ok, please talk me down. Or T&Ps.

The same happened to my brother. All was measuring great according to the technicians and doctors and then suddenly at my sister in law's final ultrasound, there was concern about microcephaly and his head circumference was now measuring in the bottom 3%.
The doctor and her team were so confident in this ultrasound that the c-section scheduled for the following morning had a whole room full of doctors and specialists who were "ready" to handle the situation.
That night was awful for everyone and we all worried about my nephew's health. He was born 100% healthy, happy and with a perfectly proportioned head. Try and stay calm and positive. I know it can be a scary time and situation for everyone. In our case there was a definite margin of error and I am sending you all my positive vibes and thoughts.
