Re: MoMs to be check in!
23 weeks tomorrow! The munchkins are getting bigger and I'm feeling a lot more movement. I'm trying really hard to enjoy this pregnancy since it will be our last. So far it has been a lot of fun! Ask me in another 10 weeks! Haha! We have our next ultrasound in about 2 weeks. Hoping they find Baby B's other kidney, but I'm not going to be upset if they don't.
QOTW: I feel like I've already asked this question, but its a favorite. We plan on breast feeding. I breastfed both of my babies until they were 22 months. I'm hoping that everything just falls into place. But I also realize that there are some obstacles that may come up and if the twins end up needing formula, I'm okay with that, too. We will also do pacifiers. Both of my kids took them and naturally stopped at 6 months. They help reduce SIDS risk and little babies love to have something to suck on. I'm not opposed to being a human pacifier once in a while but not all through the day and night. A pacifier is much easier!
Do you plan to breast or formula feed, or a combo? Will you give a pacifier?
My plan is to breastfeed. My MIL has been kind of negative about it saying my milk wont come in or I wont produce enough for two since I work overnights, dont get a ton of sleep, and have two older kids (3 and 2) to care for. But I am determined to BF. I never really slept with my son and was able to BF just fine. Its all so bothersome but I have done this twice before and am not only knowledgeable but have other MOMs support in my area if I need it.
Yes, we plan on giving a paci as well.
ETA: I am 30w 1d and about 6-8 weeks to go. I find out tomorrow if they are going to take them at 36 weeks due to a discordance with the boys.
I plan on breastfeeding only. And I dont plan on using pacis in the beginning bc I dont want them to get confused. I pray it works bc formula x2 is expensive.

19 weeks! It's hard to believe we are likely halfway through this pregnancy! It's flying by so quickly.
Can't wait to see this little babies again and (hopefully!) find out the genders!
I had my first appointment with the new OB. I really liked him, although I have mixed feelings about the staff at his practice. We have an ultrasound scheduled for next week and I'm not sure how I'm going to survive the wait.
QOTW: Although I am a little anxious about nursing two newborns at once, I plan on breastfeeding. I nursed DS until he was 14 months old and self-weaned. And I have no qualms about using pacifiers if my babies have a strong need to suck like DS did.
15 weeks here, no new updates. We go next week for u/s and Ob apt then elective gender u/s the next day. Really looking forward to seeing the beans again.
QOTW: I plan to BF but also going to try not to be upset if I can't. I BF DS for 13months but the last couple of months were a battle. We will be using a paci.
4 Clomid cycles BFN's,3 injectible cycles BFN, 3 failed IUI's
Hystroscopy to remove cysts 11/2010
IVF #1 with ICSI Graydon Dane born Oct. 23, 2011 via c-section at 38 weeks.
Surprise BFP 10/9/12. Blighted ovum at 8wks. D&C 11/1/12.
Surprise BFP#2 TWINS!!! Boy/Girl twins.
I always forget the QOTW! My plan is to BF. We will switch to bottles at some point as I will go back to work. I'm not against giving a paci.
16w1d today. I have an appt with my new Primary Care Manager to get a referral to my new OB (who I already have an appt with this Friday). I hope the referral goes through fast.Today is my 7 year wedding anniversary and DD is with my parents and sister until Friday. I've never been away from her more than a day. I'm also in my new office today. Lots of changes for us these past few weeks. Just praying that my new OB will take a peek at the LOs on Friday.
QOTW: I'm planning to try as hard as I can to nurse for as long as I can. I've been You Tubing videos on how to tandem nurse and am getting great ideas of how to, and things I need. I nursed DD for 7 months, We will for sure use pacifiers. DD already wants to pick them out for the babies.
I plan to bf as much as possible for as long as I can. If I have to supplement I am okay with it, particularly after I go back to work.
Still not much change our ultrasounds to check on baby Bs kidneys are set for July 15, July 23, August 22. So praying for good news and change on his/her fluid levels and hoping they see kidneys on those days. Morning sickness still here in full swing at week 15/16 my hips too are about to break it feels like. But we are getting the paint and new carpet in for the nursery within the next 2 weeks and getting our crib ordered this week. a lot to do to get things ready! I actually have somewhat of a baby belly this week not in maternity cloths yet but my jeans are a tad snug!
QOTW: we will be exclusively breast feeding and depending on the babies may or may not offer a pacifier. I have never nursed twins before so fingers crossed supply and latch goes smoothly
24 weeks tomorrow! Yay for another milestone reached
I have my bi-monthly scan tomorrow and hopefully the SCH is truly gone and wasn't just hiding at the last one. Starting to feel very pregnant, not bad just tired and like everything takes a little more effort. It's also been 90+ degrees with high humidity here for the last 7 days so I'm sure that also has something to do with it.
QOTW: I plan on breastfeeding, hopefully exclusively but having never had twins before I have no idea what the reality is. I had great success bf'ing DS (until 1 year) but there was only 1 of him. We offered DS the pacifier and sometimes he took it and but most often he spit it out so we stopped. We'll probably use the same approach with the twins, we'll offer and see what happens.
Hello Ladies!!!
9 weeks checking in! Ive been tired and cranky alot hopefully i get to relax this weekend i am going to Atlantic City for my 1 year anniversary. I have a doctors appointment today just a check up. I am thinking about switching doctors because although i love my current doctor the hospital She serves does not have private rooms and thats a must for me. So we thinking about it. Been kinda of worried if i dont feel like i am dying i feel something is wrong with the babies... So i am happy to go see the Doctor today to get a piece of mind. I definitely want to breastfeed (if possible) fingers crossed & no we wont be using a pacifier. I cant wait for this first trimester to be over!!!!
12w4d today!
So the EDD is off in the OP, it's 1/17. But because of twins, the actual date will likely be earlier.
We had our 12w MFM appointment today, which included the NT test.
Everything looked good for both babies. BabyA was at 12w4d and BabyB was at 12w2d. So both are measuring nicely.
Both NTs were pretty small, so that should be good news. They took blood for the 1 trimester screen, which we should hear back from in a week.
We decided against doing the materniT21 test, as it didn't feel fully necessary. Trying to keep our costs down
.
QOTW:
DW breastfeed DS until 13 months, so she will try breastfeeding the twins if she can keep up production. We will supplement if necessary.
DS used a pacifier for sleeping, so we were thinking of trying the same thing. No constant paci use. Just sleeping and keeping calm in public.
Next appt at MFM will be in 4 weeks (Aug 1st). Going to try and see OB this week as a follow-up to today's appt.
Hi! We're 17 weeks as of Sunday. Also, I had my due date wrong, it's December 14.
Anyway, had a check up on Friday, both are doing good. Baby A is head down at the moment, HR of 155. Baby B is head up right now and HR of 145. My headaches have gone away, now that I know what was causing them. I had muscles in my neck (the SCM muscles I guess) that were tight, so when I feel that sort of headache coming on I have some stretches to do and it takes care of it almost immediately. Woo Hoo!!!
QOTW: We plan to formula feed. Haven't given much thought to pacifiers, am indifferent at this point.
Tomorrow I see the MFM for a growth scan if baby A since she wasn't growing as well as she should last time. Excited to see the babies and hoping her growth is back on track.
QOTW: I plan in tandem BFing. We'll see how that goes. I had to supplement with formula at the beginning with DD1. So keeping an open mind about that. And we will give them pacifiers! Never had a problem with nipple confusion with DD1.

14 weeks today. Had an in-depth appointment with my MFM nurse practitioner last week where I got every question I had and am so glad I made the switch from my OB's practice. I feel like I am finally getting the specialized care for multiples that I need, where my OB just treated me like I was just a little more pregnant.
After being stubborn, I finally gave in to taking zofran last week and now am only throwing up once a day, opposed to 3 to 4. I wish I had taken it weeks ago! I am now hopeful that I will finally be able to start gaining weigh instead of just losing it.
QOTW: I also plan to tandem BF and will take a class on breastfeeding multiples offered by my hospital. However, I am a bit worried about how it will go when I go back to work. Fingers crossed it all works out.
15 weeks 2 days today. I feeling pretty good although NYC weather has been horrible so I am hot, have frequent lightheadness and a pretty consistent headache.
I haven't had spotting for over 2 weeks (even after ST) so I am excited about that and am hoping I didn't jinx myself here! Although I am still fitting in all my old clothes, I did buy some maternity pants this weekend. I think within the next 2 weeks, I will have to changeover because I have a tiny bump now!
QOTW: I have always wanted to breastfeed and my plan is to try. However, I am trying not to have any expectations and will do whatever works best for the babies and all our mental well-being. I also have to account for the fact that I will be back working at 3 months so it may only be feasible for a shorter amount of time than if I was having a singleton. I have nothing against pacifiers if it soothes the babies.
28 weeks- nothing new to report, everything has been pretty uneventful health wise.
QOTW: I'd like to exclusively breastfeed for at least the first six months, but I'm keeping an open mind. I regret no BFing DD longer than I did (we weaned at about 8 months because my supply tanked due to pregnancy) I read the weekly Boobs check in to get some encouragement to BFing multiples. We will definitely use pacifiers- we didn't have any confusion with DD and they were a life save that first three months or so.

Hello! I am 9w 4d and feeling a lot better this week after being on bedrest last week. Everything is looking good with both babies. EDD 2/6/14
I plan on breastfeeding and I will most likely use a Paci.
QOTW: I'm planning on breastfeeding, but I'm nervous about being able to do it. We are raising the twins vegan until they can make the decision for themselves and there is no vegan formula. Obviously, I will do what is necessary for them to be healthy even if that means giving nonveg formula, but I hope that breastfeeding works out. I don't have a problem with pacifiers after a few weeks.
I'm done with bed rest, induction most likely next Wed evening.
QOTW: I hope to BF, but am not opposed to supplementing if necessary. We will offer pacifiers once breast feeding has been established.
Dx: balanced translocation and LPD
TTC since Oct 2011
BPF 02/19/12, EDD 10/31/12, natural m/c 02/28/12 (4w6d)

BFP 12/02/12, u/s @ 6w,5d showed 2 HBs! Identical twins!!
Bed rest from 21w-35w due to short cervix, hospital bed rest from 23w-32w due to PTL
Our rainbows were born 07/19/13 (36w, 5d)
Update:
32 weeks tomorrow. It's is surreal this is happening! I had a really rough week last week with insomnia and from that anxiety, but thank goodness the Ambien is working and I'm getting some shut eye again... I actually feel a lot like my normal self again... shew! I'm hoping and praying I survive when the babies come.. that was an awful, awful feeling and it makes me really nervous about how I'll handle all-nighters.
Very excited to hit the 32 week mark tomorrow and have them be that much closer to being strong newborns when they come.
QOTD:
We'll try breastfeeding, hopefully tandem, but I'm not against supplementing at all if they need it. I'm hoping they will be able to take the breast and bottles ASAP so I can have help with feedings. Pacifiers are more than welcome in my house if they take them and they make them happy!
IVF #1 w/ ICSI 9/2012 (10M 6F), ET 9/24 (1 good pre-blast), BETA 10/4= BFN,

Yay! That had to feel amazing!!
Happy to hear things are stable and moving forward. Good luck with all your apts!
QOTW: we hope to breastfeed and will prob give paci but take it away after 6 mos or so
QOTW: I plan on breastfeeding but of it doesn't work well for me not enough of a supply to feed them both I'm ok with supplementing with formula. I was supposed to take a multiples breast feeding class at my hospital next Sunday. Right now my ob doesn't want me to go as be out that long but I'm hoping she will change her mind. Either way, DH is going to go. He is such a trooper! At least we know someone else in the class so he doesn't have to be the odd creepy guy there by himself!

*PAIF/SAIF always welcome*
Had another ultrasound and consult with the specialist. We saw two strong heartbeats and the babies moving around like crazy. They also found the source of the bleed. I have a small hemorrhage at the top corner of the placenta. They said with more rest it should heal and be fine. We are SO relieved! I am still spotting so I am on pelvic rest and no exercise or lifting until it stops.
We are going to do combo feeding. And I think I will do pacifiers.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers!
Here is a capture of a video, finally a good ultrasound picture
They definitely look di di to me. They are the same exact size and their heart beats are the same speed! Its wild!
I am doing good - still very tired, but nausea and other stuff is starting to back off a bit. I am 11 weeks today per doctor, or 12 weeks tomorrow per LMP. Two limes!
I swear I felt something weird in there yesterday, though not sure if that is too early.
QOTW: I want to BF, but I am assuming formula will have to be involved. Also I have nothing against pacifiers.
Edit to re-size ginormous picture
QOTD: I plan to BF. if I have issues my second choice would be donor milk. Third choice homemade formula.
I am almost 35 weeks! Everything was textbook perfect until my appointment 3 weeks ago where I found that Baby A has slight IUGR and is in the 9%, Baby B is in the 16%. There is also some extra flluid in B's kidney, but it is a condition that will likely resolve itself after birth. There is a very small chance she would need a minor surgery but it is an easy fix thankfully.
I am feeling pretty good compared to how miserable I was the first 18 weeks. I just started swelling a little bit this week. Other than that just the normal minor discomforts.
Just feeling very grateful. I am worried about Baby A's growth but happy to have made it this far. I go to another growth scan Tuesday and will get an update. Best case scenario I will be allowed to go to 37 weeks (July 29)...if it hasn't improved much I may deliver next week or the week after. So soon! I can't believe they are almost here...not quite feeling ready!
