I'm a FTM and new to cloth diapering. I am interested in using disposable liners. We have new toilets and a city sewer system (no septic tank). Are liners really flushable or am I better just throwing them in the trash? I live in an apartment building, so walking them down to the trash compactor isn't a giant hassle, but flushing would be easier. Also what is the etiquette for public bathrooms and visiting other peoples' homes and using their toilets?
Re: XP: Flushable liners
Will you be CD-ing a newborn? If so, I'd skip the flushable liners. They are pretty much useless with runny newborn poo. You end up having to fish the liner out of the poo and have both a liquid poo covered liner...and a completely poopy diaper. EBF poo is water soluble, so it's seriously much easier to just toss the poo diaper into the pail and let your washer clean everything. Plus, some newborns poop at all 12-15 diaper changes per day...so that's a lot of poo contact if you use liners.
this was our baby! There's no way I'd fish a liner out of a diaper
even still, NB poop is watery and runny. Nothing will really be ploppable until solids are started. It's all water soluble until solids...FF and BF poop can go right into the washer
i think, though, if you're going to use them, it'd be similar to toilet paper. The efficiency of the toilet is probably key
