TTC First Baby-Crinone 8% Gel (Progesterone)

Hi All-

  After having no luck conceiving  we have recently been given answers.  First, I was diagnosed with under-active thyroid and have just started medication for that.  Then the doctor said I need to take Crinone (a progesterone supplement.)  He said if this does not work by the end of August we will need to do Clomid.  I am hoping this works to avoid Clomid.  Has anyone ever taken Crinone, any experiences or success with it?

    This is my first round of IVF and I am on Crinone.  I find out on Tuesday if it really works Wink  Best of luck!!!!!

    Over 35 - TTC since Sept 2012
    2/13 - DH's SA was normal and OBGYN did BW on me to check ovulation - all was normal.  Went to RE in March 2013 at BIVF.  All BW was normal, estrogen a little high.  4/13 - HSG #1 - very painful and had spasms so suggested repeat of procedure.  5/13 - HSG #2 done by RE and both tubes are blocked :(  Per RE's recommendation - IVF cycle #1 in June 2013 w/ Follistim, Ganirelix, Ovidrel and Crinone.  BFP on 7/9/13 Beta #1 at 330.  Beta #2 at 895.  7/25/13 1st U/S at 6wk2d- it's TWINS!  Baby A 115bpm and Baby B 101bpm.

    Ohhhhh how exciting!!!!!!! I hope it comes out positive for you  :)  Please let me know!!!  Did you have any effects of Crinone?  Like any discharge?  I am also finding I am now eating things that I hated in the past like sweets, and my boobs are a bit larger.  I know my fertility doctor said these things could happen from it, but did you notice it at all?

    Thanks for sharing your experience.  I am due for my period today, but last week I did see some discolored discharge (sorry TMI.)  It did make me nervous, but I have found it seems to be common.  My doctor told me at the end of first trimester it is stopped.  Were you nervous to stop it?

    I used Crinone with my IVF cycle. It wasn't that bad, really, just icky to clean out. I thought it wasn't as bad as using the Endometrium suppositories. Those leaked more for me and I always had to wear a liner. The crinone didn't leak for me, but I did have to get "all up in there" lol and clean it out. Pretty gross.

    Me: 32, DH: 34  / TTC since February 2011 / SA: all normal, HSG: all clear! / on Lovenox for anticardiolipid antibodies
    4 IUIs with Clomid, Letrozole, and Menopur. All BFN.
    9/12: lap / hysteroscopy: found and removed mild endometriosis, cervical polyp, and 2 para-tubular cysts
    5/13 IVF #1: Follistim, Menopur, Ganirelix, 10R/4M/4F, ET of 2, 5 cell and 4 cell, no frosties = BFN
    12/13 IVF #2 = November / December 2013. Microdose Lupron Protocol: 15R/6M/6F, Froze all 6 due to high E2 and P4
    FET 1: Jan 22, 2014 of one 4AB blast and one 3BB blast (3 blasts on ice!)
    BFP on HPT 4dp5dt, Beta #1 9dp5dt: 310, Beta #2 11dp5dt: 899
    First u/s on 2/17/14: TWINS!!!!! both w/HBs of 114 at 6w3d, HBs 150 and 152 at 7w5d
    5/27/2014: Team purple!!!!  EDD 10/10/2014 / 
    Delivered by c-section at 32w0d 8/15/2014 due to preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome
    Baby Boy 4lbs 1oz, 17 inches
    Baby Girl 3lbs 5oz, 16 inches

    Yes, any progesterone supplement can delay your period.
    On 10/23/13 Baby Sophie and Baby Gabriel born at 21+5 weeks. They grew wings and flew away from us. May God bless them always. We love you beans!

    What did your doctor do in order for your period to come?  Just have you stop it after testing negative?  He told me if I don't receive it by Wednesday to call him, but that's all he said.  I took two tests but both negative.
