I haven't make my own,but my DH granny make some for my LO. She is a 80 years old lady, and it surprised me that she steel making all kind of crafty thing for her grangrankids.
I thought they were a genius idea too at first. But...
it's debate able if PUL is an okay fabric to use for food items.
I made some just out of cotton and crackers or sandwiches get moisture easily. There is no protection for crackers. And wet stuff obviously didn't work for a non water proof fabric.
Then zippers are my nemisis. I tried snaps but they weren't super secure, and I don't want to sew Velcro.
So I didn't have a good experience. I love reusable containers, I have lots of Pyrex and I don't mind some plastics for dry snacks. It's just nice for them to be secure so they won't spill. And so they don't get mushed!
Plus if you have lots of the same size they are stackable when the snacks are finished so they don't take up a lot of room.
Sorry to be such a downer. Just didn't end up liking them as well as I thought I would.
I didn't make my own but ordered some (I am drawing a blank on the company though). I was not a huge fan. Chips and bread got stale pretty quickly. Now I just use them to transport apples or other things I don't have to seal but keep clean. The bags just wash in the dishwasher then. So they are not a huge loss but not as useful as I hoped they would be.
