Infertility

DH cold feet?

Has anyone had problems with their hubby getting cold feet before IVF? We are on day 6 of stims now with retrieval sometime next week and my hubby had a meltdown last night. He said he is terrified and doesn't know if he wants to go through with IVF..!!! I am in shock bc I am thinking this is a little late in the game to change your mind!! I am praying hard that it is just the fear and nerves about the unknown. Just wondering if anyone else has experience this...

Re: DH cold feet?

  • This sort of happened with us, except on day 10 of stims the night before trigger.  He is/was worried about "tempting fate" by "engineering a child that we wouldn't have had otherwise."  We had a long, long talk about his feelings and once I acknowledged his fears and we talked through them, he was back on board.  I hope the same happens for you.

  • My DH had cold feet for last year! Fortunately, once he was/is on board he's been great! I think for mine it was the large investment money wise, with no guarantee. My input, is let him do his word vomit, be supportive of his feelings and he will be back on board!

Good luck, it's tough for you and DH!

  • My DH had a little cold feet, but mainly because he was afraid we would end up with too many embryos. I knew we were in God's hands, and everything would be OK. My DH is the type to get post tramatic symptoms. So, once everything starting getting really real, (stimming, ER date, etc) he started freaking out a bit. He was also concerned about the finances of it.
Now that we have had our ET, he is much better! I'm sure he is just nervous. I think a lot of guys get like that!
Thoughts and prayers coming your way!

  • Thanks Ladies! I am praying that he will start feeling peace about it again! The part is how crazy it is that he had no problem paying for it and the expensive meds..by no problem I mean that didn't freak him out but seeing bruises on my butt from the shots was enough to make him freak out. I don't wanna quit this cycle we are too far in so I pray he gets on board fast!! Hearing that your hubs also had similar freak outs makes me feel a little better
