Okay I may just be super nervous, but I am on vacation and dealing with quite a bit of swelling in my feet and hands. I had my hubby stop by a CVS so I could do my blood pressure: 149/68. Lower number fine but the top number is not normal for me (118/65 is my normal). Should I be concerned? I'm only 13 weeks along so this seems early!
Re: Swelling and elevated blood pressure
I wanted to respond first by saying of course I am no DR. I had severe swelling after having my daughter. I was miserable, my legs were so swollen I literally couldn't bend at the knee. My bottom # is typically in the low to mid 60's. It was my bottom # that was raised above 90 and I was told even that was still considered fine. I can't remember what the top # was but that was elevated too. The bottom # was what the Dr was focusing on when I went in due to feeling like poo.
If you are in a hot climate on vacation I would say keep those feet elevated, drink TONS of water and take Air conditioner breaks when possible or soak in the pool. Those BP cuffs at CVS aren't super accurate since they don't calibrate them as often as necessary (or so I have heard).
If you still don't feel well I would call the Dr if that is possible just to get some piece of mind.
Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!

First of all, drink a lot of fluids. Those machines in the stores are not correxct a lot of the time. I think you will be fine, I will take it easy for a while and have my feet up just in case. You can also call your nurse and ask.
best of luck.
