Stopping Swaddling... Need advice.

My 5 month old has, as of this morning, conquered rolling over from back to tummy. Which is great except now we have to stop swaddling. We've been working on it for naps, and it has NOT gone well at all. The freedom of his hands is too much for him to handle. We work on it for about 45 minutes until I give up bc he has to have a nap. Swaddled he will sleep through the night or wake up once. Without being swaddled, well, we are up every 30 minutes. 

What's the best way to transition him? We really don't want to digress. lol.

    We went cold turkey. It sucked the first couple of days but now it's find. With my son we did one ARM at a time.

    My LO mastered that roll in her swaddle only so we had to stop this weekend. I had ordered a magic Merlin sleep suit in advance and it worked fine. She STTN in it and takes decent naps. She can't roll well enough to get comfy and she hits herself repeatedly with her hands

    The only way we kicked the swaddle habit with DS was to sleep him on his tummy. We got rid of the swaddle because he could roll by himself, so it wasn't an issue to put him on his stomach. He was more comfortable, felt cozy, and slept fine.
