mo/di MoM's-delivery?

What week wouldn't your MFM let you go past for delivery? I am reading they don't let you go past 37, but then I just read 35 is better. Did your dr. give you a deadline date?

Unless there is a reason I don't think they purposely take them too early. Mine said if I wanted we could schedule a csec for 38w. We had no complications and my water broke at 36.

Mono/ di twins should be delivered before 37 weeks because of high risk of one being still born.

Please don't state fact when it's one of many medical opinions. Your statement paints a very bleak, potentially scary picture and there are some docs who allow mono-di pregnancies to go beyond 37w.

The stillborn part might be a little harsh, but mo di twins are recommended to be delivered at 37w according to the medical guidelines. di di twins are recommended at 38w. i have not seen anything about 35 weeks unless its for mo mo twins maybe, but i think the recommendations for them are even earlier.

I never really got far enough along to discuss this but my mfm said 34 weeks due to complications we were having. Without complications my ob said to expect delivery around 36 weeks which is about average for twins. Research does suggest ideal delivery gestation for mono/di is around 36 weeks due to increased risks associated with a shared placenta. Obviously there are many variables in this type of high risk pregnancy and reaching 36 weeks is huge because babies are usually mature enough to need minimal or no special care.

I agree. My OB would go until 38 weeks. One of my MFMs would have let me go until the babies decided to come if there were no complications.

Yes, same here. We ended up inducing at 37weeks due to IUGR and some early Pre e issues. My doctor preferred to go with a "one week at a time" approach rather than giving a set date early on.

My doctor is an MFM and head of OBGYN at a major teaching hospital so I think he was pretty up on the recommendations and guidelines.
